How to find out manufacture date of my Columbus RNS 510

Featured Replies

Is there any way I can find out when my Columbus was manufactured?

I have the unit out of the car so have all the details from the sticker (serial number, model number, barcode etc).

I'm even happy to email the manufacturer and ask them but I don't know how to contact them.

I think the manufacturer is called 'Continental', somewhere in the Czech Republic but the words 'Columbus' and 'continental' are so common that googling them just produces thousands of irrelevant hits or else adverts to buy a head unit.

Can anyone help?

The date of manufacture will be on the sticker on the top of the unit.

However, it might not be an exacting science. There are reports of dubious sellers trading off older units with new stickers which they just print off as and when required.

Maybe I should've gone to Specsavers - I didn't notice the obvious date among all the other numbers !

If the sticker can be forged though, is there a way to verify the date?

Not really.
