Kodiaq recall - blocked handover

Recommended Posts

I logged a tkt with Skoda Customer support.

Had response today - The signal Booster/Amplification feature has been removed due to failing to meet licensing standards.  There is currently no fix, though the expectation is a fix will be provided, I will have monthly updates from them.

Sorry to revive an old thread although it is relevant.

Did @Sargan get the monthly update promised? Or has anyone else heard anything?

All mysteriously quiet from my dealer!

I opened a case with Customer services today, six months since me collecting the car, they said they will escalate to specialist case management team, perhaps more people should do that to move things a bit

Matthew

Hi D, you're through to Matthew at ŠKODA UK. 14:32

D

Hi Matt, it is six months since I got delivery of my Kodiaq, with the signal booster removed just prior to

delivery 14:32

D

Skoda have been keeping quiet with no updates whatsoever when we'll get that feature we chose and

paid for back 14:33

D

How do I raise a formal request for an answer please? 14:33

Matthew

I can appreciate your frustration here, have you spoken with your Retailer regarding this issue? 14:33

D

Well Matt, as you can guess, their answer is it is out of our hands, it is SKODA to deal with 14:34

D

And it is not up to the dealer to decide, it needs to come from Skoda, just like the decision to remove the

signal booster wasn't a dealer decision, it was a Skoda decision 14:35

Matthew

I see. In that case, what I can do for you today, is escalate this to our specialist Case Management

Team for further investigation, would that be OK? 14:35

For those that didn't opt / weren't offered the partial refund, you should make Skoda UK aware of your monthly compensation charges, whilst driving round in a partially built test-car :tongueout:

Nice idea ... not likely to be accepted.

A contracts lawyer would probably argue at best that the max payment could be value of booster (unknown) ... lets assume the nit is sold at same price as for example a 3G repeater/booster .... £129

129/36= 3.59

Not a huge amount per month.

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment.

It would be nice if Skoda UK went above and beyond to make things better for those who feel the situation isn't being handled to their satisfaction.

Regular communication and updates, a small gesture of goodwill, an apology. Anything.

Update today ....

"I wanted to send an update with regards to the phone box signal booster.
We have been advised that it will be the end of the year before an update is provided on the availability of the phone box.
I will continue to monitor this for you and send a further update on 21 December
."

After my chat with customer services, I had a call. There's a fix being developed. Initially it was meant to happen November, but it was postponed for 1st quarter of 2019. So it should happen by end of March. Unless anythign else happens of course. But good news is they are working on it. Or at least this is what I was told ...

I had official update this week  (Mar) from Skoda Customer Service.

The update is - they have no update on if a fix will be provided or even if it was, as to when.

Car 11 months old .... and no further forward.

Truly disgraceful. Total disregard for their customers.

OK now had official response - there is no movement due to Legislative issues.

They see not change in this position and I have been offered a 'goodwill gesture' payment as a final position from Skoda.

So there ends the issue, disappointing but there we are.

Without wishing to be blunt... How much is the goodwill gesture offered?

You should have asked them to make a quick call to the SEAT office next door. They seem to have overcome the 'legislation issues' by offering wireless charging on the Tarraco...

Wireless charging is not the signal booster though.

It makes interesting reading though (pages 239 & 240 of the Tarraco users manual). At least it tells you what it does, and why it does it. It'd be interesting to know if SEAT use a modified (legal) Mobile Signal Amplifier, and if so, why not let Simply Don't Give A Witches T*t About It's Customers SKODA know about it?

You misunderstood the problem .... Wireless Charging works - and has done since new ..... it is the Signal Booster amp they removed.

I know that, but SEAT are offering wireless charging AND the signal booster, see my post above.

Just like Skoda set out to do, but messed up.

SEAT don't seem to have any problems with making it available.

So Skoda's excuse seems to be just that, an excuse, hence my post about asking Skoda how SEAT have managed it.
