Retrofitting Rear + Front OPS parking sensors

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am trying to retrofit front and rear parking sensors. I am stuck at connecting Can-Hi and Can-Lo cables. Manual says I need to connect the can wires to Can Bus Gateway. It is located above acceleration pedal.  It is very hard to reach, I can barely touch it.

What I want to ask is, can I connect the PDC Can wires to Steering wheel (J527) controller instead? Erwin wiring diagrams shows steering wheel controller is connect to "Convenience  CAN bus, high" and "Convenience  CAN bus, low". But it also shows PDC should connect to "running gear sensors CAN bus, high" and "running gear sensors CAN bus, low".

So are there separate Can Bus for different controllers (Convenience, Infotainment, running gear sensors etc)? Should it work if I connect to J527 can wires?

Regards,

Problem solved smile.png I searched the Erwin wiring diagrams and saw that T17b (brown) connector -located bottom A pillar- has the needed can pins. So I tap PDC can wires here. After VCDS coding it all works even with black/white swing radio screen.

Where did you purchase the parking sensors from?

Was it fairly easy installing the sensors into the bodywork? I'm really tempted to try to retrofit front sensors.

I got it from local dealer in Turkey. I will install front sensors this weekend. Removing and installing inside trims are quite easy if you have Erwin document for Body Works. Removing rear bumper is easier than inside trims :)  I did it by my self alone. You need a L shaped Torx screwdriver for screws located at wheel side. And I used Bea000001 tool for drilling holes.

If you have rear sensors, just look for where your PDC controller is.  If it is located  front side of the car (near foot rest for LHD car) than you don't need to remove any inside trims. Just get a PDC controller that supports front and rear sensors. Then get the wiring loom from controller to front bumper (you need to remove battery for this).

Hiii. I want to do this retrofit but I dont know what pdc control unit, wires and sensors I need.

maybe pdc control unit 5Q0919294E fits on my nov’ 13 Octavia III.

Can I keep my front and rear bumpers if I drill out them with bea0001?

Tjanks in advance.
