2018 Engine Emission Light

Featured Replies

Weird...I contacted two local dealers, to whom I also sent this diagnostic result, what copied here:

1. Dealer 1: There have been cases, but since the factory has not yet provided the software, some have been able to fix it by replacing the NOX sensor, but not all. We are also still waiting for software from the factory. - I wrote back that does it really makes sense, that 5 years later, there is still no software fix ? Doesn't make sense to me.

2. Dealer 2: At the moment, it seems that updating the software will be enough. - Waiting for update offer...

Come on! How it can be, that even they doesn't know is this software exists or nor...really ?

Can someone confirm, is there newer engine software available ?

Hi, I have the same issue. I bought my Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 190HP DFHA more than two years ago, and since then, I've been encountering the same problems. I'm getting the errors P200E and 15733, along with the check engine light on the dashboard. Technically, everything seems fine, but the error still appears about once a month. I simply remove it using an OBD scanner and continue driving.

I was quite sure this was a software issue, so I visited my local dealer in hopes of getting an update. They confirmed that I am not the only one who has reported this problem. In their technical notes, they found instructions from Skoda stating that a software update is necessary.

I left my car for a software update. The software version was 6847, and they confirmed that a newer version was available. They updated it to the latest version: 7860. I was very optimistic and confident that the error would no longer appear. Unfortunately, it came back again after driving about 300 km.

I don't know what to do next, but I am really tired of seeing this error repeatedly. I have doubts that the issue is not related to the software version but rather to the ECU unit. From what I understand, different ECUs have been installed over the years, and perhaps one of them is responsible for this error. For your reference, my ECU unit hardware part number is 04L907309P.

I am very disappointed and unsure how to proceed. Please let me know if anyone has successfully resolved this error. 🥲

@RWW Did someone check the condition of the adblue injector?

Yes. Earlier, the AdBlue injector was inspected, but nothing was wrong with it. The dealer also checked its part number and confirmed that it is from the latest revision (which is less problematic than the older ones). Additionally, I want to mention that there is no crystallized AdBlue around it.

This is the most common issue, yes. Some of the local guys here had the same error code but it stopped occurring after the they cleaned the injector.

Sorry I cannot help you more than that 😕 I personally add some snake oil which prevents the crystalization and issues with the AdBlue system in the winter. I don't know is it working, but so far I have no issues with the SCR system.

I have this exact problem. There is a "SCR Nox Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1 catayst 1" fault  which appears approximately every 150 miles after reset.

I took the car to a local VAG specialist garage and the ran an adlue test plan. They replaced the adblue injector. After 150 miles EML came on again so went back to garage and they put the old injector back in (refunded money) and said they thought it was a software issue and to take it to the Skoda dealership. Skoda dealer says that the software is already up-to-date and there are no updates available. They ran exhaustive tests on the adblue system which were all perfect (adblue quality, pressure, volume emitted at injector, cleanliness of pipes). Outcome was they suggested the catalytic convertor was failing and should be replaced. I don't see any smoke from exhaust, the exhaust is clean at outlet, there is no loss of power or drop in mpg, no reduction in acceleration or rotten egg smell.  After seeing the above posts with this same problem I am hoping that it is just a software issue and will continue driving and resetting EML in the mean time.

@fr1nklyn where are you adding anything, into your fuel tank?

^^^ Best to be clear where and why.

There must be a market for selling 'Snake Oil',

but somebody probably has that trade marked.

So, replacing any technical parts of the AdBlue system seems to be just a waste of time and money. By the way, the latest software version proposed by the dealer as a solution, as I already mentioned, is not working either. Deleting the error from time to time has become annoying for me, but it seems there really is no other solution (except for completely disabling the SCR system).

How many miles do folk get between clearing fault code and the engine management light coming back on?

There is no exact interval; it may occur after 1,000 km, or why not, it could even happen the next day after you deleted it.

I drove 2000km (mostly highway , and at least 4/5/6 regen cycles) since I saw first saw the DTC and it is yet to appear - hopefully it doesn’t.

Hi everyone. After encountering this error several times, I started monitoring it and taking screenshots from my ELM almost every time it appeared on board. Based on these screenshots, I created this table hoping to identify patterns (such as distance traveled since last occurrence, speed, RPM, etc.), but unfortunately, it seems there are no consistent rules—it appears randomly. You can view the table and see how often it occurs in my car, along with RPM, speed, coolant/oil temperature, and engine load. Maybe it could be useful for someone...

P.S. After updating the engine software to the latest version, the error continues to appear as before, so it seems like a waste of money and time...

P.P.S. I'm considering cutting off and completely disabling the AdBlue system because I don't see any other options to try to fix it.

Good information, thanks. Although I get the error message I've noticed that I still get an Adblue countdown so it is injecting Adblue which is obviously a good sign.

If the AdBlue system wasn’t working the issue would be fixed. Non-working AB system would mean increased emissions than claimed, leading to another diesel scandal 💨 And this for cars produced after 2015 🙂

Has anyone figured out the problem in the meantime, or are we still trying to put out the engine light that keeps coming on :D ?

My engine light never came on, although the DTCs were there.

I've not checked since.. just decided to ignore it.
