Heated windscreen

Featured Replies

Hi all, I recently had my windscreen replaced due to a cracked screen, doe to various issues with the fitter and quality of the installation I’m not convinced that he reconnected the heated windscreen, does anyone know how I check or is it one for the next service?

You could hold a bowl of hot water under the windscreen inside the car to produce condensation, then start the engine, switch on the heated windscreen and see if works.  It'll work better on a cool, damp morning, otherwise a warm sunny day will probably clear the screen before it heats up.

It's still chilly at night sometimes, so you might be able to fog the screen on such a morning with some heavy breathing on it from inside the car.

On a coldish day, it will even feel slightly warm to the touch if it's been running for a while.

On the subject of heated windscreens I have a quick question to those of you that have one fitted.

My superb has one however I cannot see any filaments in the screen like I can on my wife's qashqai and on numerous ford vehicles at work.

Does the superbs heated screen work differently?

It does. Instead of the wire filaments, there’s a metallic film wedges between the two glass panes.

That film is also why the windscreen has a golden tint when looked at from the outside in the sun.

I would think the "Convenience Consumer"(sic?) screen would show heated windscreen as an active entry

It does when it's switched on

I’ll give that a go, they originally fitted a unheated screen as the replacement and the control still switched on with no errors, it looks like the right screen fitted the 2nd time but they did a very poor job fitting it so I’m thinking to wait until next service and raise my via lease company as I would rather have Skoda check it over.
