Pre match nerves

Featured Replies

I spent 3 months choosing a car, I have read every review, watched every video and read every comment posted. I have waited 5 months since ordering (with various bumps in the road along the way) and have committed to 4 years of a Skoda Karoq. It's due to be delivered to the front door on Tuesday. After all this, I hope it's as good as I think it will be....and I'm slightly terrified it won't!

Don't get me wrong, I know it won't be perfect in every way but let me have pretty much got this decision right!

Yes. It really is!!

Can't fault ours, had a good run put in it last weekend, fantastic car.

Golf R is history now

I like mine more every time I drive it, I couldn't be happier with it.
Did a 160 mile round trip today and with ACC, DSG and lane assist I hardly had to do anything B)

Yeah I'm a month in. It's a fantastic car. I even took a pic today. You're getting a DSG right? They've really got that right IMO.

All really reassuring, thanks. Love the quartz grey as that's our colour too. Yes to DSG, counting down the gear changes. I would chat with my wife but quite frankly I have driven her nuts with all of this as it is ! And she will have to take delivery whilst I'm at work...

You did the same amount of research as me - reviews, videos, comparisons, specifications.

You got NEARLY everything right ....Although Quartz Grey is more popular, I love the Business Grey. ;)

The DSG is fantastic. As TheRoq says, I also like the car more every time I drive it.

Im certain you will love the Karoq.

Send pics when you get a mo.

It will be fine although committing for 4 years is a slight risk, particularly with the last year out of warranty.

I was quite happy with a 2-year lease.

Our last Yeti PCP was 3 years. They took it back after 2 years for the Karoq. We've got that on 4 years but knowing it's likely we'll stick with Skoda, we're relatively relaxed. There's always third party warranties.

Enjoy it. The only downside I've found - like others - is the propensity to throw crap up the underside of the rear doors. My guess is there'll be a seal fix in due course. Otherwise, we love the car.

Yeah, 2 year PCH was the one for me as well. Total cost £5.5k all in. 1.5 SE Tech DSG, skinflint blue...Whats not to like

I do a reasonably high mileage and have taken a maintenance contract. This makes me feel much more secure. I am actually looking forward to not having to think about the next car for 3 years or so. I've always had shorter deals and always seemed to be sorting the next one and forgetting to enjoy what I had

I've taken out a 4 year contract too. Having had my previous car for 11 years, 10 of them out of warranty, it didn't seem a big deal!!

I've had mine (1.5TSI DSG SE L) a week now, and absolutely love it. We went to Bristol for the weekend (from London) and it was such an enjoyable, relaxing drive. Other than on concrete stretches of motorway it's very quiet in the cabin even over 70 mph.

Mines on a 4 year PCP but once the first MOT and 3rd service is complete you can normally start talks about handing the vehicle back and getting a brand new motor again.

I'm on a lease so will have to go the full 4. Honestly, I am ready for a break from car buyers anxiety!

Maybe by then they will have a hybrid 4x4 version to replace my very clean Euro 6 diesel

I was discussing this the other day with a mate, I think my next car in three years could be my first EV and Skoda are talking about having their first one available for 2020 so never know, could be in the Skoda E-Karoq next haha.

Let's hope they improve hugely over the next 3 years then, husband watched a review on the leaf, zoe and E Golf the other day, the golf on a coldish day only managed 93 miles on one charge a huge amount less than that stated by the manufacturers.  We are all becoming accustomed to having gadgets including safety ones which of course use power I have visions of people not using lights or indicators as it will use up their charge, my husband has a colleague with the bmw electric car and he asks to leave early so that he can get home before it gets dark and he has to put his lights on, he suffers with massive range anxiety. :o

A friend has the e-Golf. Much to like about the car, but one issue is the lack of a "heat pump".  It wasn't specc'd, and VW say it can't bo retro-fitted.

The result is in "live" use in cold weather, range takes a hit from the heater, and same with AC in hot weather. Comfort has to be sacrificed for range

I guess the heat pump builds up a reserve of energy to be ring fenced for heating/cooling :wondering:

Personally, I think it will still be a generation or too before I can go fully EV. I had a serious look at the Kia Niro but it was a bit small and the seats weren't great (sacrificed to hybrid weight saving). We are not far off and a genuine hybrid Karoq would be a real contender

Some extensive research there, but you test drove one, right!?

There isn't a 'bad' car out there these days, some just being a little better or worse.

I did indeed, took a while to find one to test to be honest.

Anyway, it's here... And it's absolutely lovely. Spent an hour reading the manual and taking some settings, quick run to the shops and back as thats all there is time for tonight but a lovely run through the hills to work tomorrow.

Thanks for all the reassurance and yes, it's worth the wait...

Hoping there's no "threats" ;)

Enjoy
