I know this is a really boring question and it's not the reason you got the car, but what mpg are you looking at on average?

Really interested in one of these the next time i go to change.

My commute to work which is 12 miles of mixed roads (lanes, B roads, A roads and motorway) with some traffic and I am getting around 32mpg or so (a little less on the way home because I live on top of a hill!!).

Did a 35 mile mainly motorway trip to my brothers yesterday and got 37mpg. I was not flooring it everywhere but was making progress and going at the speed limit.

Best 38mpg on a 400 mile motorway run within speed limits and a fair bit of 50mph roadworks. Worst 20mpg on a 300 mile motorway run towing a double axle box trailer that weighs approx 1200kg. Mine mostly gets used on long journeys but seems to average high 20's low 30's on more 'average' motoring. I don't baby it but I'm not a racing driver either.

Its a lovely thing to drive and I am really pleased with it, and for what it is I don't think the economy is too bad. I guess for real long distances you are never going to beat a diesel.

Indeed, it was a sobering experience of seeing 68mpg on the way down to collect mine and 30mpg on the return home.  Though I'm sure I had at least 25mpg of smiles :)

Theres's no way I could have afforded to buy and run one of these if I was still doing 25K miles per year, out of my own pocket.

Agreed - I average 8-9k a year so economy not such an issue for me.

I'm doing 18-20k a year so perhaps the diesel would still be best

Tempting though!!!

Flashed passed a sign for Guisborough over the weekend.  We were camping in Dalby Forest (well...right outside its entrance!)

I love the roads around there...scenic, and twisty, not exactly "Eco" mode friendly :) - more Sport or Manual !

I love it around here.  45 mins on the train to a few really nice cities when you want the hustle and bustle but a 10 min walk on to the NY Moors and some stunning scenery.  The roads are pretty good too!

Looking stunning mate and colour really suits it .  The wheel colour stands out better too - on my Business Grey one they almost look colour coded  !!   The initial buzz doesn't really go away - I still look forward to driving mine every time I use it :)  Are the badges staying on the rear ?  I've 'deleted' my Skoda Superb 4x4 ones and have ordered a couple of the round black bonnet / boot ones with Business Grey inserts to replace originals.

Why won’t they put the criminally underused 2 litre TDI 240 in the Superb. It would be a fantastic compromise

I don't say this to men very often (read: never) but your backend is looking good  . I like the new badges and de-badged look.

I'm torn between removing the badges and just getting a Monte Carlo skoda emblem or trying to source a black 'Superb' badge to go with the MC '4x4', 'Skoda' and emblem badges.  It's a shame Superskoda don't do them and a bigger shame they don't seem to respond to email queries.  Humph.

I'm in the 'less is more' school , hence my 'clean attractive rear'   .  The 15 plate has also raised  queries from a couple of other local Superb owners who though  I'd added Sportline Badges as the model wasn't available in 2015 !!   The Plate is combination of my own and wife's initials coupled with fact I was born on 15th - it was first placed on a new BMW 335D X Drive back in May 2015.

That is absolutely mint! I really can't get the idea of buying one out of my mind, but for the fact that I can't justify it. I don't need anything more than my 2012 VRS Octy - its a decent size, looks good drives well with a stage 1 map and sits in car parks most of the week. Yet i see motors like this and the green eyed monster comes out! As a balance between sensibility and entertainment, Skoda seem to be right on the money. Its either this or the VW Arteon...

Mine is a bit of a drive way Queen in the week but when we go away for holiday, weekends etc it really comes into its own. Its just a brilliant tool for family life - tows anything, can throw (nearly) everything in the boot, has had 6 bikes on the back/roof.

The 280 certainly looks sensible and I am a 45 year old married man with two kids and a Springer spaniel so certainly counts as a family bus. But put your foot down and 'entertaining' is a good description :)  outrunning a Focus ST up the dual carriageway to the Saltash roundabout with 4 bikes on the back was particular fun (no speed limits were harmed, honest :))

I've discovered a new 'fun activity' for the 280.  Local plod are allegedly testing a couple of Sportlines.  One is a very Q-car like Dragon Skin green :o  I'm not sure which colour the other is.  They also have a Quartz Grey unmarked Octavia vRS.  So driving on the A19 on Tuesday evening and 3 cars obviously clocked my car and quickly went from 80-90+ up the outside lane to a more sedate 65-70, pulling in behind me and then dropping back then maintaining a big gap.   So I'm having 'fun' just watching it happening and sticking at 70 with the ACC doing it's thing.

Driving back yesterday evening, the same thing happened again.  Funnily enough 3 out of 4 cars were older BMW 320D's (obligatory M sport badges).   We used to get this with our black Octavia vRS on the same road, as Cleveland police had one too.  Even more effective when you could probably spot rank slides/my uniform through the side window

I'm often on that road, and as there are often 'safety' camera vans around I stick the ACC on at an indicated 70mph to save my driving licence and cash. I too have noticed the number of vehicles that hang back behind me. I'm also assuming that they're wondering if my Superb is an unmarked police car.

I know Cleveland have a number of vRS Octavias and I have heard that they had a couple of Superbs. They do have a variety of other unmarked vehicles as well apparently.

Indeed. It’s one of the only roads I still routinely see patrolled by the police.  The camera van is normally on the bend near the old truck stop, by the time you see it, it’s too late.

I resisted the the urge to gun it from Stokesley to the A19 on Tuesday night and I’m glad I did; camera van just near the Carlton turn at 1930.  It was a nice night so they were likely raking  it in.

No 'creep' function on the DSG; once you've stopped you can't just feather the brake to roll forwards or backwards a touch, into a parking space for example.

I'm surprised that you have no creep, mine does. Maybe it's the auto hold stopping it.

Was thinking the exact same thing :)

A finishing touch is to wear a white short sleeved shirt and dark tie.  This looks even more convincing with a glance in the side window or mirrors, though it doesn't show from the rear of course.

My 18-plate TDI has creep (7speed DSG) with Auto Hold on or Off... Although I noticed the 6-speed DSG we test drove didn't have creep with autohold on, and it annoyed SWMBO.

Is yours a 6-er or 7-er @penguin17?

Looks stunning.  Very nice indeed.

It's a 6 spd DSG.

I believe the new 280/272PS and 220 GPF equipped Superb's will be 7 spd though.

Thanks @facet edge I had a try today with auto hold disabled and it behaves more like I would expect it too.

I've also tried it with auto hold engaged and the pressure required on the accelerator isn't that much and it doesn't lurch forward as quickly as I thought it would.  It shouldn't propel me into a barrier (famous last words!)

Oh and another observation between this and my previous MY17 Sportline; the centre console arm rest doesn't have a ratchet system.  It just lifts and holds position with no clicks.
