So I went and bought a Jaaaag

I have forwarded your recommendation and eagerly await their response.

I'm looking forward to December/January when many of the BMW dealers suddenly stick all their pre-reg cars up for sale at massive discounts. Although a half price C63 would be nice, even though I will still need a 50 year 0% finance offer like the one that Porsche will do me (I'm assuming it's a cert')

Crikey, that's more than a bit forensic!!!   A couple of months ago my car was cased at 4 oclock in the morning, by a young scummer on a bike, riding up to my car and calling someone to disc

I've worked out where BMW have got their inspiration from, for the new M4 grill

I'm sure your credits good for that.

Hmmm, depends if they want to check my bank balance or not. I do have a nice selection of old VHS films in the loft, they must be worth a deposit on a 911/C63 I would have thought. I also have lots and lots of thermos flasks they might be interested in and I could certainly part with half a dozen if it sweetens the deal

I wonder if Porsche would do me a free redundancy insurance on a 911? (and generous 0% finance on a 50 year HP loan)

Well considering that in general a 50yr old Porsche is worth far more than it's purchase price I would suggest to the HP company that a 50yr 0% plan is, in fact, a safe bet so to speak.

they may make you give them the car back in your will but tbh I think that might be a fair compromise.

I will forward your recommendation for me to have a basically free Porsche until I die.

I can't see anything going wrong with this idea :)

Definitely growing on me. But why did they use those colours! I find them worse than the front end :D And the interior shot looks like it was coloured in by a 6 year old on a sugar high. But the exterior...yep, I am really starting to like it

Those are bad greens.

I'm finding the front less offensive as time goes on. But still offensive.

The rounding down to the leading lip and the bonnet sculpture softens the grills at least to my eyes and with a number plate attached it's quite a homogenous look. Now if it was only 10% smaller and 25% cheaper.... :) Hmmmm  :wait::thinking: , what would you call a car like that.....maybe an M2?

This is a nice video. Robert Kubica appears to have wandered into Apex rentals and ask to drive a car around the Nürburgring Ring. The chap in the video said sure and could he come along. Interesting back story to why RK was there and the video of his 'safe' lap is extraordinary quick for a modified road car and a track he doesn't know that well!! Reminded me how talented he was (Btw the insane giggling of the poster eventually stops, mostly as I think he was concentrating on other things)

Mesmerising!

It's the way top drivers seem to be running at a different frame rate to the real world. A car he isn't familiar with, on a track he apparently isn't familiar with and yet so much faster than anything else on the ring, even one or two really quick looking cars were dispatched with ease. It's a so sad that his F1 career was curtailed after the accident.

Agree...   That front end is still hideous

He did not look like he was new to the circuit, superb lines through corners where you cannot see whether they are going to tighten up or what other corners they link to.

So I would say that he has had at least a days practice given the size of the circuit, but yes that is still relatively unfamiliar.

He carried an incredible amount of speed through the fast sections without it even looking like it was on the limit.

My pal was a trucky for an F3000 team around 1984 to the best of my recollection, he could tell you a story of their hotshot driver cramming the drunken mechanics & truckies into their Hertz Golf hire car and taking them round the Ring in the early hours of the morning &  knowing before they did that he had overcooked it for the next bend, turning backwards and saying nonchalantly were going to scrub some speed off on the barrier before the back end did just that.

After changing their underwear they spent the rest of the night in the garage with portapowers etc trying to get all 4 wheels pointing in somewhere like the right direction before returning the hire car :D

the first pic in that link, the m4 , on the right, the back end looks like a kia optima!!

I'm just pleased the M4 RK drove had uprated brakes. He would have melted the standard ones. I bet when they got out of the car all they could smell was 'hot M4' in the air

I think it looks like an M8 which probably isn't a coincidence. If I had the money and it was smaller, I would definitely be having a look at one when they are launched. I expect they will be pretty nice to drive...

JUST TOO BIG!!!!!!

Well the haters are gonna hate, but it is an M4 thread and they have started to release the press videos, so here are a couple. There is one by Schmmeeeeeeeeeeeeee but as I can't stand the man and his weird falsetto voice (bit personal I know, but that's how I see it) I haven't linked to it. I know there are a few fanboys of his on here, so I will leave you to have a look at his vid  on your own :D ...until it gets posted on here obviously  :dull: sadly the only vid that seems to have any sound of the car on it is masked by ruddy daft music, oh and those weird exhausts tips appear to be the MPE option rather than the GTS version. The body kit that goes with it looks like a cross between a DTM racer and a 'ricer'

Joe Achilles has a vid with a blip at the end (sounds like a soft limiter) and the audio limiter on the sound mixer has reduced the sound and pop to a purr and a click. it's a shame the extra engine brace is no longer the lovely carbon fibre boomerang, but if it saves money and does the job as well, who can complain. No doubt M will sell you a sexier version if you have the dosh.

I think that seems to be the same for any top flight sportsperson.

You might think you're good, you might even be top 5% good, but then one of these guys comes out and you look like a toddler playing with toys

Isle of Man green - sticky pub carpet green

Sao Paulo yellow - **** stain yellow

The poeple who would spec those interiors are 10 years old and can't afford the cars

The best way to compare yourself to an F1 driver is drive the same circuit and compare your corner entry speed with theirs. Silverstone GP Circuit October 1993 and a young Benetton driver is doing hot laps with 3 passengers in an Escort Cosworth so I jump in behind him for 3 thrilling laps. This man would go on to win 7 world F1 titles and it wasn't hard to see why as he turned into Bridge corner with just one hand on the steering wheel at 110mph which was crazy as a couple of years later in my heavily modified BMW 325i Coupe with uprated suspension, brakes, strut brace and wider wheels and M3 width tyres the fastest I could enter the same corner was 70mph. Schumacher simply had no fear and his confidence at 23 or 24 years old was off the scale and everything seemed to happen in slow motion for him yet appeared sped up for us normal people.

H C ! those corner entry speeds scared me just watching - and he only got slightly offline once that I saw - instantly corrected. Do you know what the lap time was for that?

They've realised a lot more photos and I have to say the colour designer has been smoking powerful doodoo. The interior colour combos are like a kid's first Civic (type R wannabe) after a splurge at Halfords trying to make their car stand out for peer approval

https://www.carscoops.com/2020/09/2021-bmw-m3-and-m4-combine-controversial-looks-with-awd-and-up-to-503-hp/

Both the car and colour schemes will appeal to a certain section of society no doubt - probably footballers, z-list 'celebrities' or those with more money than sense that want to say 'look at me!'...

The rest of us will just laugh at them and be sick in a corner at the sight of them.

I've probably said it be fore but BMW 'design' is terrible at the moment in my opinion...   and Adrian van Hooydonk has to take a lot of that blame...   I was hoping Domagoj Dukec might change a few things but it appears he won't as he was one of the main protagonists with respect to responding to the desire to 'stand out' and has been instrumental in the ungainly maw on new BMW's.
