New Kessy key coding

Featured Replies

Fellow Octavia 3 owners!

I have bought Octavia MY15 with only one kessy key. Since its highly uncomfortable, I have ordered a new, original one (prepared by Skoda on the basis of VIN). Of course it costs as it was filled with uranium bought on black market, but nevertheless, once I get it, it should be coded with the car. I understand that the lost one should be removed and the new one should be added. So here is a question: is it possible to do it in VCDS 17.1.2 which I have access to or should I visit authorized skoda service?

I believe you will need the code for the immobilizer and this is only easily available to dealers.

The internet says that you coud try to dump the code having the OBD cable. If I had the 4 digit code, is it possible to code the keys with vcds?

There are two elements to the keys -> unlocking & immobilzer.

The unlocking/kessy part can usually be done manually following a proceedure (turn on-off in ingition 4 times, press Lock, Unlock).

The immobilizer is a separate part of the key & will require coding by a Skoda garage or approved VAG specialist.

Ok, that's usefull. So the main question is that whether the immo poart can be coded with 17.1.2 VCDS with proper cable and license. If yes, I am at home.

If you have access to a legitimate VCDS lead then you should be using the latest version which is currently 18.2.1 - updates are free for life so there's no reason not to run the latest (unless it's a rip-off clone).

Sure, I recall that 17.1.2 was mentioned- it may be updated already. So the main question is "Is it possible via VCDS", so I should try to reach the man. Otherwise I won't bother and I'll have to go to skoda garage.

Something dodgy here. Why would you need to code a new KESSY key to the car if a dealer is ordering it based on VIN info? :wondering:

anyway, its not possible with VCDS, only an authorised VW dealership can reset the immobilizer & match a new key.

Well, it was Skoda Garages which all quoted me separately the key and coding. Today I received the key. It has my car's VIN on the sticker and something in Czech, so it seems its all legitimate. It does not work though, the car does not react. I did nothing to try to get it working yet.

As stated above, you should be able to find a process on Google for programming the remote central locking/Kessy to lock/unlock the car with your new key.

However, to match your new key with the immobilizer you will have to take the car & all the keys you have to a Skoda garage for them to program the new one.
