Sat Nov GPS issue

Featured Replies

Hi

We have a 2ltr TDI vrs in at the moment and the vehicle position on the sat nav screen is out of place. It is somewhat delayed by around 2 seconds when driving but also when stopped the position of vehicle appears to be further back than should be. Have tried a hard reset of unit but to no avail. Has anyone else had this issue? I kind of think the GPS antenna may be faulty

Thanks

Hmmm, we have this issue on another thread. Sounds like there could be an issue. Let me find it.

If you're getting a position that updates then the GPS antenna might be OK as it takes a usable signal from at least 3 GPS satellites to get a fix, on the other hand the sat nav might be just using dead reckoning using other sensors on the car.

Isn't there a screen to show how many satellites are being received?

Thanks for reply

Yeh I'm not sure how you would access what satalites are being used?

I've not actually tried another vehicle with the same system yet but is everyone else's on here pretty much bang on when it comes to position or should you expect a slight delay?

The one thing I have noticed is that the clock doesn't update itself even with the GPS option ticked.

So when you go through the Chunnel, it doesn't add/lose an hour automatically. As for positioning, I've found it to be pretty much spot on, don't forget atmospheric conditions can cause it to do odd things if the conditions are right.

Ok guys thanks for input. Seems to be always behind, position is ok(not driving in the middle of the sea lol!). Just when you stop at a junction you can clearly see that you are a way back from the road you are pulling into. How do you check for updates etc?

Mine did this also, I have updated mine using the guide on this forum as my map was same age as car (3 years). Very easy to do if you follow guide.

That's great thank you I will give it a go!

Not sure if it affects anything but read somewhere that your nav SD card should be in slot 2. I moved mine once I did the update just in case
