Skoda felicia pickup engine swap?

Featured Replies

Hi, im looking to engine swap my skoda felicia pickup. I have always wanted to put a 1000cc sports bike engine in something like this but i know that wont be very practical lol, plus i will be loading the bed up aswell and these engines dont have very good bottom end ,but it would be cheap and easy to do as i have welding skills and mechanical knowledge. Or can anybody suggest other easy and cheap engine swap that might be a bit more sensible please. 1.6 gti engines are the most likely solution at the moment. But at the end of the day im looking for something different. Thanks.

won't you have problems with reversing if you put a bike engine in.

there's  a person selling one on eBay with a mk3 golf engine Inc shafts and struts etc,but couldn't shut bonnet down because of intake manifold( he did mention bike carb modification would sort it)

I've just got hold of the vw version and is struggling too. I've seen a pic where they have put an updated (facelift) 98? felicia bonnet, grille, headlights, bumper and the small plastics under the lights and they tied in with the original wings.

so I'm now considering that path along with what engines did those felicias have. after all it's still a skoda but with a vw badge

Just had a look at that ebay listing and seems like a mk3 golf engine swap wouldnt be that difficult. Also i was wondering if i could use the original trans with the bike engine possibly and use the sequential gearbox of the bike to change gear and just leave the original gear box in third or fourth or something and possibly have it able to select reverse. If not people who put bike engines in kit cars normally have an electric motor to reverse or a weird pulley setup. I was gonna eventually put a mk3 golf front end on mine as the bloke i bought my pickup of off did a bit of reasearch on it, however a lot of the mk2 caddy van guys put cupra r front ends on and in my opinion it looks well sexy i dont know if this can be done on a pickup though so if you can i will probably go that route.
