First impressions

Featured Replies

1.5 SE L DSG Quartz Grey, Heated W/S and steering wheel.

Ordered early March BW20 picked up today.

I’m very grateful to not have been caught up in the delays others are suffering. Stick with it.

My first ever new car and I am very impressed. As I hadn’t driven a Karoq since February, I had forgotten how much of a step up it is from my previous Yeti. I’m really impressed by the ride and brakes, so much better than the Yeti. Drivers seat is very supportive, fit and finish great and the engine is a gem.

Did just under a hundred miles on the way back from the dealers. “A” roads mainly, a few villages, bit of motorway and a couple of city centres. Had it in ECO and averaged 44.3MPG.

I think its it’s going to take me a while to get the hang of all the features on the sat Nav/infotainment. And I need to go through the myriad of selectable options as well, but first impressions are brilliant car.

Glad the holding down of the unlock button on the fob still opens all the windows, very useful on a day like today.

Glad you're having a great experience behind the wheel of your new karoq, it IS rather special isn't it??

I LOVE mine, and drive it at every opportunity.

I ordered an almost identical spec, in the same colour a couple of weeks before you in mid Feb. Picking mine up on Friday. Cant wait! Reading this I'm starting to get excited after the long wait!

One of my only gripes with the wifes previouis Yeti was the brakes, god awful really and not a patch on the Karoq

Hi Panther,

Was your wife’s car a DSG? The gearbox on the Yeti was very good, nice and smooth changes, but on the Karoq it seems almost undetectable even when using the paddles to change, most impressed. As on other posts when the stop/start has kicked in and with first being so low it does lurch but a slight turn of the steering smooths it out.

Bit weird how it disengages the clutch when you take your foot off the throttle. Watching the revs drop to idle at motorway speeds doesn’t seem natural but they will try anything to improve the MPG figures!

Yes both DSG's and impressed with both, mind you the six speed DSG in my Octy was also a pleasure to use.

Have you got it in Eco mode so it's coasting ?

Glad it's all you hoped for. Hope to see it in the flesh on Monday, if not in Co-op or around. Be nice not to be the only Karoq in the village

I keep seeing the blue one heading up Springfield Road, 3 of us at least.

See you Monday.

Interesting the OP finds the ride so much better than his previous Yeti as the Yeti had irs and I believe the fwd Karoq has torsion beam rear suspension (?).

Had 2 Yetis before our Karoq and I find the new car better planted and more refined. Could be just new car tightness and smoothness I guess. But it feels that way.

Same as mine basically. Had it just over a week now.

Like you very pleased with it so far, great to drive. Haven't gone far in it yet at all, but it's going to rack up a few thousand miles in the next few weeks.

Just completed a nine day 1400 mile road trip around Scotland. Perfect car for the trip.

Started with a motorway stretch up the M6/M74. Lots of A roads, a few terrible B roads, a bit of town driving and everything in between. Just reaffirmed my initial thoughts. Better in every aspect than the excellent Yeti.

So, so glad I chose a Karoq.

40.2 MPG was a bonus as well!

You must be back. Went for an evening walk tonight and saw yours, plus the blue one.

Glad the trip went well och aye the noo

I never knew about the fob and windows! Just tried it, made up with that! :tongueout:

We go to Scotland at least twice a year, big road trips, averaged over 40mpg on our first trip in the Karoq, 49 on the drive to Stranraer from Liverpool, great car for that type of journey.

Picked up my manual 1.5Tsi Edition on Thursday and I'm over the moon with it.

It feels poles apart coming from a diesel Octavia VRS estate, the Karoq is so quiet and refined in comparison, even with the 19" Craters.

Any excuse to go out in it now!

Pleased for you, Gaz!

I have had my SE L for over 3 months now and I still love it.

Last night was one of my first proper night time journeys. You will like the headlights!!

Happy for you too!

Im yet to drive it in the dark yet, looking forward to it, plenty of time for that come the winter though!

True! I used the heated seats and steering wheel last night as it got quite cool late on.  Both warm up fast. I have the heated windscreen too, so Im as ready as I can be! :)

Yes the heated windscreen was a must for me too, the salesman was trying to convince me I didn't need one as the blowers are really effective...as I explained to him after a 12 hr shift you try waiting for the blowers to clear an icey windscreen!

Even more so when the pair I'm on shift with drive focus' and are away after a minute of sitting in the warm while I HAD numb fingers and a runny nose..not any more though ;)
