New Suspension MkIII Octy Estate

Featured Replies

So the Octy has leaky shocks (3 out of 4) so I'm looking for options on price over OEM for next weeks service...

Could stick to OEM but pricey, perhaps there's a good aftermarket alternative?

Or  - I could get a lowering kit - but I'm confused as to what set-up the car has 50/55mm front ARB ++

40mm would be the max drop,

Recommendations please...

Cheers,

Ryan

Have some crap phone pics of it on it's new boots...

I wish I could find a Weitec kit for it.  The Weitec coilies on my old Passat were EPIC.

AP Coilovers seem to be the best option over a lowering kit - anyone have experience of Bilstein B4/B6/B8 struts??

Unfortunately Weitec as a brand has been discontinued and KW have replaced it with ST.

Ah, I didn't realise that...

So did you find something to replace the knackered bit?  I am desperately trying to figure out to a way to calm down my crashy mk3.  Same engine/spec as yours.  Tempted by the B6 or B12.  But, and its massive BUT, my shocks aren`t technically bust.

I have a set of coilovers for sale that would give you the desired drop.

Ok. Keep us posted. I keep going back and forth with b4 and b6. Would rather not lower as lots of speed bumps both home and work.

Hmm, just realised the 20mm drop is specified for the VRS only!  so it's still the 40mm drop.

Getting annoyed with it all now - B4 dampers are way cheaper than both OEM and B6/B8's...  but I don't really want 40mm dropped springs on the standard shocks...

You can get the Eibach pro kit (Eibach Part Number = E10-79-010-02-22)

This is probably the highest lowering kit you can get without going too low.

Yep - that's the Eibach Pro kit - 30-40mm quoted depending on where you look...

Liking the look of the VRS's that have these fitted - which throws up another question...

Are the VRS shocks different spec to non-VRS shocks? - eg on a 4wd 2.0 TDI??? - just thinking whether the B4's will do for me now...

Search for b4 sport. They are a shorter version of the b4 meant for use with lowering springs.

If you want to fit lowering springs you need the b4 sport or b8.

The Eibach prokit springs will drop the VRS 10mm rear and 20mm front. I have these with the b8 dampers.

Not heard of B4 Sport....

I thought that it was

B4 = OEM

B6 = stiffer (sport)

B8 = Shorter but B6's

and

B12 'kit' is B8's with Eibach springs...

Speak to @DpmPerformancethey should be able to give you a quote. I've just had a look on their website and they have both variants for the mk1 and 2 but can see for the MK3.

There is a tpi on leaky shocks for the Octavia. Ask the dealer about it?

If you do want to change I loved the Bilstein b12 kit on the mk2.

Better ride quality compared to the stock and the handling was like it was on rails.

So had the car serviced last week, garage confirmed the front struts as 50mm - B12 kit ordered....

Anything else I should look at changing along whilst fitting the shocks and springs? - New top mounts?

Cheers, but the car is long out of warranty (63 plate and over 100,000 miles).  Good to here you liked the B12 kit, mine should be arriving today...

Just realised that the part number for the 'kit' for mine is E90-010-04-22 - the one above is for the springs only...

@raystaggs

How is the b12 kit going?  Had mine looked at today and tech said the shocks are fine so keeping with stock for now. Think b12 or B6 will be the way I go when eventually needed.

Delivered this week....  Too busy to get it all fitted at the moment...

  • 1 month later...

@raystaggs

Please tell me to wee off if you want.  Have you had a chance to fit these yet?  I had a ride in my mates VRS today and confirmed that mine is not how I want it.  If fitting a B12 kit makes it anywhere similar to hid then I will be happy.
