New Instavolt hub in Winchester

Big ie 40% price plunge on Octopus Electroverse usage on several networks including Instavolt.

Instavolt early bird discount on usage could well be a winner too i reckon.

Just a note that there are now 98 (out of 175) Tesla hubs open to all EVs. Also there are now over 800 charging HUBS in the UK, in addition to all the 1/2/3 rapid charger sites around the country.

Trying to avoid TESLA superchargers due to Elon but when needs must. One used them once, took £20 for a few kWh, kept it for a week and then gave it all back.

Where is the best place to filter where the V4 public supercharger places are ?

Cutting nose off to spite your face are you not!

PoGo Charge I don't hear much about, but here are 4 recently opened hubs

2x150kW         Raynor Parade, Wolverhampton

8x200kW         Mid-Kent Shopping Centre

12x200kW       Lichfield
4x150kW         Victoria Shopping Park, Cannock

and coming 'soon'

20x200kW      Holiday Inn, Rochester

Wanted to test out rapid charging with my parents' Kona yesterday. 2 previous test change they've done at Morrisons and Osprey didn't stop, I figure they probably didn't follow instructions to the letter.

Gridserve Stevenage hub was coned off, all 20 odd chargers. Tesla chargers there are operating, but only for Tesla.

Across the junction have 4 chargers at Starbucks, 2 broken and 2 in use, 0 available.

Welwyn garden city Shell had 1 broken, 3 charging, 0 available. The van at 88% wanted to wait for 100%.

Got testing done at nearby Instavolt 2 chargers, stopped when I operated it. I don't think they are scanning the Electroverse card long enough.

Truth is if really needed charging, the Osprey nearby has 8 capacity and seem to be reliable enough.

But I'm saddened that public charging can still be a bit of time waster with poor reliability and congestion seen yesterday. Sunday ~11am.

Found a useful list of Gridserve charger installs & upgrades last year (link below) Here is the list for the last quarter

Gridserve have added 3 new chargers at Killington Lake services. 6x290kW plugs. The old units are retained to cater for Chademo charging. Good place to stop to walk the dog and a lot less busy than Tebay.

A new Tesla Supercharger site open to all has opened in York with 16 stalls. That makes 100 Supercharger sites open to all on UK mainland and one in NI (Dungannon)

Be. EV are still going great guns, announcing a new partnership and a new hub yesterday.

8 x 150kW bays at North Valley Retail Park, Colne (top of M65).

Be.EV opened a similar hub last week at Hulme Retail Park, Manchester.

  • 1 month later...

I've not posted here for a while as its hard to keep up with all the new hubs opening. However, here is one of note - the largest single operator hub in the UK. The new Instavolt hub at Winchester.

Still at those prices, I doubt they'll be busy.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just one that I spotted today. Gridserve have expanded charging at Toddington services on the M1. There are now 6 new High Power charging bays northbound by installing 3 brand new chargers and an additional 12 new charging bays served by 6 new chargers at the Southbound services ! All of the chargers are 360kW-capable.

Shamelessly stolen from Electric Cars forum

Summary of new hubs:-

  • 9x Sainsbury's Bamber Bridge, PR5 6BJ

  • 16x MFG , Lobley Hill Road, Gateshead, NE11 0UH

  • 20x Osprey Rainhill, L35 6NE

  • 16x Osprey Garston, Watford, WD25 7JZ

  • 2 weeks later...

MFG are claiming to have opened 19 new charging locations this month

  • 2 weeks later...

Instavolt still opening new sites

  • 2 weeks later...

Tesla have opened more Supercharger sites in the past week. All open for non-Tesla. Anglesey (Gaerwen) 12, Swindon 16 and Faversham 16. Eurocentral in Glasgow has reopened with 18 stalls. There are now 116 SC sites open to all, making Tesla one of the largest and cheapest CPOs.
