That was my take too

+1

I was excited initially, and it looked promising.

I even tried do give it a go with an old HTC phone of mine, but it wasn't without problems.

I'd rather just plug the cable and it's up up and away.

Is it me or does it still need the phones GPS for Maps to work? Even though the Colombus has a satnav (and presumably a GPS unit built-in)? Just another drain on the phone battery that could be avoided if Android Auto could steal the gps data from the head unit.

And another... I've never had a problem with whichever cable I've used in the past, but the MK3 is sensitive and only like the bright red original oneplus cable for Android auto to work!! Means I have to keep unplugging it. Anyone found a more compact one that can stay hidden in the ashtray area?

I attached one of these (at an angle) to the rubber tray. It means having the door open while the phone is connected, but you literally just drop it into place and it gives a better signal... no wear from constantly connecting it:

It works so well I now use a dock for charging in the house too.

Pics of it in place please.

I added the two adhesive rubber domes and strip of foam as it seems to let the mobile locate and sit a little better... not essential though:

i think alot of people are missing he point. the usb charger is feeble at best and can barely charge my S8 if im running nav or anything else. I have a wireless quick charge and the phone case is magnetised.

Im going to work through the wireless tutorial when i have time, i have a spare S5 to use as the client.
