Just bought a 2.0 tdi se 6 speed manual anyone tell what they are like mpg the good the bad

dont get it till tuesday

I cant give a long term reply, as i only got my Edition yesterday. It is the 2TDI 150ps 7seat manual, on the drive home from dealers, a distance of 90miles it was getting 48mpg in normal mode. I expect this to improve as the engine beds in.

Tip,  I just bought the same spec car from a dealer in Reading and am happy to confirm that my motor is returning about 47 on a tank but can reach 60 mpg  at a steady 60mph and about 40 around town . Really happy with the car  very quiet and refined and even in SE spec very nice. Delivery guy managed 54mpg on the delivery ride up to me!

Yeah am impressed with it,I did drive the life out of it as i was late for boat and still returned good mpg 46mpg,tha includes 120miles at 56mph.Are youre led daytime lights in the fog light or lamps

The S, SE and SE Technology come with halogen headlights with the LED DRL's built into the front fog lights.

All other models (SE L, Edition, Scout, SportLine, L&K) get the LED headlights with integral LED DRL's.

That is the case here in the UK, you mention the ferry, so not sure whether you bought in the UK and live in Ireland or the other way around. Irish specifications are often different.

Halogen headlights and LED DRL's in the (halogen) foglights...

Your use of that photo is a little misleading though - the 'eyelashes' are only on when the sidelights/headlights are on, they are not part of the DRLs.

Hardly misleading :D

Will almost definitely be a case of buying in the UK and bringing to Ireland.  There is a huge amount of importing from the UK happening at the moment - its a factor of cheaper UK prices to start and a very favorable exchange rate with the euro that shows no sign of changing.

FYI - a Scout spec like yours would be around £46,500 in Ireland (using today's exchange rate) and if you ask for a discount, they'll stuff both hands down their trousers and giggle hysterically.

It makes absolutely no sense to import from Ireland into the UK unless you are a buying an older/classic car. We are not nearly as good as you guys at salting and gritting the roads but one advantage of that is cars are subjected to less punishment and rust underneath).

That might explain why my 2011 Skoda Superb bought in 2013 had Northern Ireland plates on?

The dealer I bought it from in Coventry told me it was purchased by a guy from Ireland who ran it over there for 18 months and then brought it back to part exchange it for a new one. I can't remember the original number, something like BKZ 1234, but on regular UK style number plates.

It was the cheapest Superb in the UK at the time and has turned out to be a cracking car 5 years and 150,000 miles later.

The DRLs on my SEL are exactly where Silver1011's photo shows:  a thin strip along the bottom of the (LED) headlamps.  They're on when you're driving, even with the lighting switch in the "off" position.

Yeah but not exactly the same as the photo. As pointed out by WiggosSideburns the eyelashes are not illuminated with the DRL’s.

Gawd ... I didn't know I had eyelashes!  I'm in the driving seat when the lights are on, and I only know which bit lights up with the DRLs because I can see it when reflected in the back of the vehicle queueing just in front. I suppose the eyelashes don't show up then!

Ok I get it the leds in the fog lights are on the versions from sel up and yes i live in Ireland

For the more pedantic amongst us, here are the DRL's without the sidelights ("eyelashes") illuminated...

Interestingly on Kodiaq's equipped with the LED headlights the DRL's don't dim when you switch from 'off' to 'sidelights', meaning those that like the idea of DRL's incorporating the rear lights can have their rear lights on with the DRL's at full intensity by simply moving the headlight switch to 'sidelights'.

...and the DRLs look better ‘cos the eyelashes are also lit up :tongueout:.

I must admit to driving around with sidelights on most of the time - if only to stop the headlights turning on/off every time I go through a shady patch of road. The auto lights certainly seem more sensitive than on my old Octavia.
