Bought a 32GB Samsung EVO Plus SDHC Card and copied the POI files onto my 2019 Karoq. No problems with the update process. Thanks Boyo.

Thanks for replying I was wondering can you send me copy of that file so I can do to my car

Thanks

If your car hasn't got sat nav as you said in the first post you made, then adding a navigation speed camera file won't help. In fact, any SD card addition isn't going to make sat nav appear. It requires hardware change first.

Glad you were successful with that. I came across an old Samsung 16Gb EVO SD card myself the other day and discovered that it was CID editable using bootable Linux on my laptop with integrated SD card reader (the method can be found by searching online).  I was able to read the card CID from my official Skoda 16Gb SD card and write it to the EVO card. I now have a backup SD card which works exactly the same as the original. The Samsung backdoor CID editing software only works with a limited number of EVO cards made around 2014-15 and definitely not with the newer ones so I just got lucky there :)

I wonder if anyone on this thread can give me a few pointers on how to combine the excellent speed camera file (many thanks Welsh Boyo, you're a star, it works a treat) with other POI files....I can't find any way of inserting 'others' into the one file?

The files are complied from publicly available camera files using POInspector https://poinspect0r.blogspot.com

It is a bit complicated to use at first but works fine once you get the hang of it. The unregistered version is severly limited in the number of POIs that can be added but it can be registered by making a Paypal contribution of at least 9 Euro to license it for use on a single computer.

The unit will make an audible  sound when you are near a camera and the display will show which type it is. The Amundsen system is not intelligent enough to know which direction you are travelling in though so you will get warnings for any cameras in your vicinity and that is the best it can do. That should be enough to avoid unexpected fines though!

HI

When you say vicinity, does it pick up cameras on near by roads as well on a set radius or just the road your traveling on in both directions?

The in car sat nav may now replace my tom tom.

I'm new to In-car media system (when I say new I got the car yesterday)

this is a cracking add on to what i've found up to yet to be a lovely system

can i once again say thank you,

Is there anyway to increase the volume of the warnings 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hi Welsh Boyo

Any chance of an update please?

Can't open the file..says its empty? Any ideas?

Edit:  Ignore this... opens fine in 7Zip.🙄

Yes. It is actually a .rar file and not a .zip file so rename it to "Amundsen Cameras Oct 2019.rar" first and then all should be well. I'm not sure what happened there I and guess that some unpackers won't mind the incorrect file extension but others will.

Hmm.. added the POI's, now have cameras in places where I know they are not, one road they haven't had cameras on for at least 9 years..  will have to check more to see if its a glitch.

OK thanks for letting me know. The problem I have is that I am not subscribed to any of the camera database distributors so have to rely on publicly available data - in this case from "POIbase" which may not be reliable. Previously I have used files which seem good. If anyone can help with me this please send me a private message.

No problem Welsh Boyo...  thank you for what you have done.. wish I could help...wouldn't know where to start..😂

Just wish a way to load Pocket GPS World database could be found.

I'm (or at least I was, I've let my membership slip) more than happy to pay their £20 subs but I tried every which way, including buying several 3rd party apps, to get a result but no.....currently using the POI Base list but, being German compiled, it's not ideal and a long way from 'up-to-date' !

The latest update is showing a camera location near where my brother lives. He has been there for years and confirms there is no camera site. I also got a bloop on the A47 at a spot where I have never seen a camera.

I will be going back to the earlier version which I have been using for a few months, as it seems to be more reliable.

Yes, and so as previously posted I am looking for a more reliable data source if anyone can help with that, otherwise I will not post any further updates. People with access to accurate data  should be able to create their own files if they invest in the poinspector software and follow instructions in my earlier posts.

Hi Boyo,

If you are unable to get reliable data and therefore don’t post any more updates, I for one really appreciate the files you have shared with everyone for no charge for your service. No the files are not perfect but you can only work with what is available, so well done and thank you so much.

kind regards

Roger
