The files are not an app but are to copy onto an SD card which is used then to install camera Poi's into an Amundsen MIB2 unit. I think your satnav unit is too old for that (check back through all the comments in this topic).

Massive thanks, just done my first POI update and it couldn't have been easier!

I've tried six times now, with two different SD cards, and getting the same error message as Shorty, basically there appears to be no files on the cards. I had a previous version that was working fine, but this update has now left me with no camera information at all. Any ideas?

Interesting! Could you load the old file back on? If so i might give that a try.

The "old" file (original file) is at the start of this topic on page 1 (Amundsen Cameras July 2018.zip)

By all means try it and if that loads OK but the October one doesn't then let me know - though I have to say others have had no problem with it! I must re-emphasize it will only work with Amundsen MIB2 units (the most up-to-date model) and not the older units.

It loaded perfectly for me

Not having much luck with this one, downloads the file OK (Win 10) when I come to unzip (unpack) to SD card and it asks for a password,I tried my Microsoft password,no joy, skipped the password and the transfer gets stuck on 99% with error messages. There is a folder on the SD card but get a message on Satnav no data available

Go back the the very first post on page 1 and follow the instructions carefully including "The password is my username in lower case with no space between the two words".

Thank's but still no joy so downloaded July 18 cameras, updated to my Nav with no problems, have tried numerous times with the latest update but keep getting the "no data available screen" have checked and the files are on the SD card but won't transfer onto nav,do the old camera POi's have to be deleted?

Not necessary to delete old POIs first. I have attached another zip for you in case that one had become corrupted. Same password. Make sure you don't try the Cameras Oct 2018 MIB1.zip as that was experimental and won't work. In the event MIB1 units can't handle these POIs.

You would need to download the software called poinspector, make a 9 Euro donation to get full programme functionality then use it with csv camera files for the countries you want to add to the database.

thank you thank you!

Just updated via the download..Many thanks for the help and hard work, Worked Great.

Just downloaded and installed the POI’s to my satnav and it all works, thanks Welsh Boyo

the biggest problem I had was windows  10, it doesn’t unzip the file properly - it creates at file folder but no data or text file in it.

I downloaded 7- Zip and used that, then just followed the instructions from the 1st post.

Hi @Welsh Boyo

I have recently updated my POIs using your guide and and download, thank you.  The process went smoothly, however I don't see anything visual on the map when I am close to cameras etc., I get the audible 'PING', but can't see anything.  I'm possibly missing something obvious, any thoughts?  The personal POIs are definitely loaded as I can see them on the interface - i.e. the type of camera.

My car is a MY19 Superb Sportline with Amundsen, before I did the above I updated the maps to the latest version from the Skoda Update Portal.

Double check that you have gone into your Nav "Settings", "Map", and enabled "Show POI's", then under the "Select Categories" option scroll down to the camera POI's (FIXED,AVERAGE,REDLIGHT,VARIABLE,SECTION END and MOBILE) and ticked each one (they will be right at the bottom of the list). That is what makes the images appear. Also, check in "Nav announcements"  that you have enabled "Note my POI's".

Welsh Boyo, you're a top bloke

Nice and easy upload of the database with clear instructions, many thanks.

I'll keep an eye out for any updates.

Cheers!

Thanks Welsh Boyo. Just carried out the procedure on my Karoq. No problems. There are 2 SD slots on my Amundsen so I placed the POI SD into slot 2 and ran the update. Tried replacing the map SD in slot 1 at first but that just prevented the sat nav from starting up when there's no navigation data.

Do map updates wipe the POI database? Wondering if I'll have to repeat this in the future. Thanks!

I have compiled an up-to-date Speed Camera file (July 2018) for the Amundsen Sat Nav using the excellent POInspector software configured for a “Discover (Pro & Media) Navi” SD card. You can download the Camera POI file (attached). The password is my username in lower case with no space between the two words. It's working welll on my Octavia lll MY2018 and may well be OK for other vehicles.

Unzip and copy the zip contents to an SD card (any card will do provided it has a capacity more than 2Gb) To activate, place the SD card into your Sat Nav unit then go to "Settings", "Manage my memory", "Update my POI's" which will upload the data to your unit.

Next, ensure that in "Settings", "Map", "Show POI's" is enabled and also in "Select Categories" scroll down to the camera POI's (FIXED,AVERAGE,REDLIGHT,VARIABLE,SECTION END and MOBILE) and ticked each one. Also, in "Nav announcements"  enable "Note my POI's".

The unit will make an audible  sound when you are near a camera and the display will show which type it is. The Amundsen system is not intelligent enough to know which direction you are travelling in though so you will get warnings for any cameras in your vicinity and that is the best it can do. That should be enough to avoid unexpected fines though!

If you would like me to provide regular updates  (if I can) then please like this post and reply accordingly.

Enjoy :)

Brilliant. Using this info I've downloaded and donated to POIInspector and created my own customized POI's using POI's I've selected from Pocketgpsworld.

Many thanks.

Hi guys, octavia III 65 plate owner. I'm reading through and I'm still little unsure what to do? I don't have a cd player only 2 sd slots, 1 for satnav other music. Do I take out the satnav sd card from the car, go to the update portal, and download the update to the sd card, then RE-insert in the car?

Thank you

That's pretty much it. You have to use an original Skoda SatNav SD card as these have some hidden copyright protection data on the card.

Back up your current map data to your computer first so you can re-install it if all goes wrong.

Then delete the old map on the card (this won't affect the copyright protection). Once you've deleted the old map copy the new map onto the Skoda SD card and reinsert it into your car.
