No.

Not because I don't like the brand, but because at least in this part of the world, since the prices of Skoda have gone up significantly over 15%, I can buy a better performing car for a little more, like the Clio 182. I mean, 182bhp out of a N/A 2.0 in a car of something like that is just nasty. The interiors maybe poops, but the fun factor exceeds that of any Fabia 101%. And it is only 20% more expensive, paying it off a loan per month for three years will be nothing.

I'm lookin' at the Clio 182 very seriously, as I've read some pretty good reviews about it, along with our fellow member's input ( :) )...but I also got a call from Sonata...some of you will remember who she is...the girl who works at Mini here who let me have a Cooper S and S Works for 3 days each, and who I think is damn fine!

She's called me almost exactly a year later, saying that I had said that I would be thinking about selling my car in a year! What a memory! Anyways, they have some new colour ranges in, including a new purple! So, purple body, black arches, black roof and tinted windows and 170bhp...hmmm...and not only that, it is STILL going for the same price as it was 3 years ago!

Yep

Just about to order a Superb to live along side the 2 Octys, I think the new Octy L&K is over priced for what it is & the Superb offers better value, there are some great deals to be had on Superbs at the moment if you look around.

All cars have problems and ive had a couple of small ones but its how quickly these are dealt with thats important.

Not all cars have problems ;) In fact, of all the cars I've owned, only one of them has had problems!!!

Chris

Value for money factor is still there when buying, but not on servicing etc :(

Sure would.Though always look at everything on offer when I buy.

No car is a good buy new so I don't know why people are concerned about the cost of Skodas. They are just good cars.

Don't know which direction to point someone in if they are super bargain conscious?Daewoo/Chevrolet?

Yes. Well if at the time skoda have a car i like. This is mainly down to my dealer who is very helpfull. The car itself has had a couple of little problems but its not put me off.

Will be another 18-24 months before I change. At the moment i'd have to say yes, but there's a hell of a lot of new cars due out in that period so god knows what I'll do when it comes to change.

I might if I am in position to buy a brand new car. Mainly because only VRS model appeal to me to buy another skoda, but there is no way to tell whether a 2nd hand VRS has been remapped if the seller carefully took the remap off and had no intention to memtion mod to buyer.

PS saw the new civic for the first time this afternoon, very tasty indeed I must say

Certainly would, and to be fair I find the servicing costs a lot cheaper than my old Honda.

In fact if I had the cash I would buy an full spec & chipped Octy VRS for the Weekends

Would have to do something about that Green Badge though being a Rangers Fan ;)

Yes :)

Yes I would and have done, whether I will in future will depend on whether Skoda can continue to manufacture good value, well made 'sporty' versions (i.e. vRS) of upcoming models!.

Ya I totally agree with that.

I will when they release a proper Petrol Powered Fabia! Ie Turbo with 4WD!

Yes I would buy another even though I dont own one now. I still have access to my old one though, and its still as good as ever.

Yes I would too, but I think the draw of a sporty rwd or 4wd car, preferably with 6 cylinders rules out anything from the czech republic as the next purchase...

shame really... I definitely rate the value for money factor.

I'm on my 2nd Fabia and would definitely have a 3rd. First one was 1.4 16v Comfort in Cayenne Orange - a really lovely colour which has been dropped. Then got the 1.9 TDi Elegance in Stone Grey - nice car but I wish I'd gone for a different colour now. Will either get another Elegance or consider vRS (as won't go back to petrol) - problem is I do too many miles and I hate getting stone chips. Didn't know whether to hold on to Eleg now and await next model in 2007/8?

Yes I would. But,I may not be able to,as my boys are getting taller now and need more leg room

Don't think I will, the car is fine and great value for money but unfortunately the dealers round here suck big time. Maybe I'd buy an older one, out of warranty and get it serviced at an independent garage or something.

ooops I clicked the current Superb owner box rather than the Fabia one. The answer is yes anyway of course there isn't another small car that I would prefer to the Fabia on the market at the moment so i'm holding out for the 2007 version. After years of VWs I have switched to Skoda now. I have a Fabia 1.4 TDI and a Felicia Fun (As well as a 1988 Polo Coupe S and a few VW T3 vans) I also had a Favorit Estate for a few months last year (I gave it to a friend who needed a car).

Skodas have a soul and a history which is missing from nearly every other mass market car maker. The only manufacturers I can think of which hold a candle to Skoda for heritage are VW themselves (NOT VW UK) and Honda.

JON

On the basis of the car I would buy without hesitation. But with my experience of Skoda dealerships so far, unless I find a better one, I'll buy something else.

I drive a Superb, and it is what is says on the bootlid. Good build quality, fantastic value and gets great comment from everyone who travels in it (including any work colleagues who have borrowed it and driven it).

But I had difficulty finding a dealer who could advise me about headlamp adjustment for European driving and got better advice from a pimply youth at Halfords (no offence to adolescents intended).

  • 2 months later...

This is an old thread thats popped up again.

Anyway , I had said that I would buy another , and after much looking round at the alternatives I *did* buy another octavia.

Don't know which direction to point someone in if they are super bargain conscious?Daewoo/Chevrolet?

Hyundai.

The 5 year warranty is excellent value and the cars seem pretty well designed.

Not necessarily the best looking things but the price is right

Given that this thred has popped its head up again, especially with tonight's Top Gear antics being covered in another thread, I thought I'd put my 2p worth in to say yes, I would buy another one.

Reasons? Reliability and service from my local dealer. It all just works and it's great! :D

I wouldn't have one.... They're "seriously uncool"

Got a Saab now..... bu99er, they're uncool

Oh well, step in the right direction, maybe my next car will be

I am on my 5th skoda so that says everything:)
