Rear tire roar

Featured Replies

Ok, so the wheels were rebalanced on Thursday. Saturday morning I did a 140 mile trip on the motorway. By about half distance, the wobble was back.

So it’s back to K—-fit on Wednesday to see what they propose to do about the tyres.

The tyres need to be removed from the rims and internally examined for defects, delamination etc

Its possible the wobble is a final drive / transmission problem (bearing failing)

Another possibility is a rim with a wobble. My proposal: get the wheels of the car and put them on a balancing machine. If there is a wobble in the rim, you can see that when the wheel is rotating on the machine. If the wheels are on the machine you can easily check the balance. If the wheels and tyres are ok, and the wobble is still there, you have to search further.

To check is the wobble comes from the drive line, you can fully push down the clutch (engine in idle), if the wobble disappears than the cause is somewhere in the drive line, if the wobble is still there with the clutch down, the problem must be in the wheel suspension. (when rims and tyres are ok).
