215 or 205 on VRS

Featured Replies

Any real pros and cons?

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/438015-alternative-tyre-size-on-vrs

More rubber on the road with the 215/40 R 17 that the 205/40 R 17, and 215  was / is the standard size on the Polo GTI, Seat Ibiza & Audi A1 Twinchargers.

No down side really.

205/45 R 17 is OK as well.

I have used all 3 sizes and liked the 215 in the right tyre at any time of the year, and 205/45R 17 was fine as well.

More accurate speed on the speedo and not under reading by much if any.

Might change to 215s then. Would be a better launch, no?

205s seem to wear quicker on the edges & that was premium brands as well, uniroyals  good all rounder at 215, or Goodyear efficient grip

My 215s rub at the back with it lowered 40mm

Nevermind. Spring has snapped at the front instead, so will be getting that sorted first 😪

I had a snapped spring after 25,000 miles, car only just had first MOT........ most disappointing..............

Hard to pin point the reason, could be poor spring quality or our wonderful roads in super condition !! 😡

Must be quite common just replaced front offside spring just  recently

Very common front drivers side with UK Mk2 Fabia vRS.

If replacing a new pair of fronts be sure to check when they arrive they are a pair, i have seen TPS deliver wrong ones, and OEM can be silly priced more expensive than decent after market ones.

Same goes with the rears.   Maybe best upgrading all round.

These are standard not Dealer fit options which were Eibach.

Need it on the road. So took it to a Halfords as they were the only place near me with space on a Saturday. Sachs springs, and wounded me to the tune of £385
