OEM rear LED Lights replacing Standard

Featured Replies

I wish to replace my standard rear light clusters on an Octavia III vRS (2015) with an LED cluster from Superskoda, do I have to change the Flasher unit for an LED recognising one, does the Canbus recognise the LEDs automatically etc.? Any experience comments would be welcomed.

Your vRS should already have the LED rear clusters.

Can you link the cluster you’re looking at on SuperSkoda?

There is no separate flasher unit, it's all part of the programming in the BCM which is also where bulb failure detection is done so that needs to be told which bulbs are LEDs.

You are correct, indicator bulb is tungsten so I assumed all were tungsten. This forum keeps saving me money. Many thanks

OK, so if I change the indicator bulbs to LED I have to have the BCM reprogrammed rather than changing the relay to one that recognises LEDs? Alternately, I suppose a ballast resistor will be needed with each bulb?

Does anyone know what BCM stands for; I get the M is for Module but not the rest?

Unless I'm missing something here, all you need to do is swap the halogen bulbs to LED.  Plug and play.  Simples.

Some LEDs claim to be "CANbus error free" and some (not all) are, but the right way to do it is to tell the car that the bulbs are LEDs now.

Why? Because that recalibrates the bulb failure warning detection so you can be 100% sure you won't get spurious bulb failure warnings.

I got these off ebay and whilst I expected there to be a canbus error or turbo flashing, neither happened.

It was just plug and play. I'm made up with the above ones as they're very bright.

You can get these from Auto Bulbs Direct (ABD) at Southampton and have ordered 4 from them. Bought bulbs from them before including an HID conversion kit for my previous vehicle and LED headlamp bulbs for my wife’s  Citigo, you get good service at a reasonable price and can return if you make a mistake. I would recommend them.

Thanks for the information, feel confident in my purchase now.

I can recommend ABD too (I used to work only a couple of miles from their office) - their LED bulbs and HID conversion kit have worked faultlessly on my Citroen C1 for many years, but as that doesn't have a bulb failure warning system I would have expected nothing else.

Body Control Module. Typically controls lights, door electronics, security and extras like heated seats.

Replaced the rear indicator bulbs, no problem. Front ones not yet replaced as I have HID bulbs and no access to indicator bulbs. Can anyone advise easiest method of getting to them?

2014 vRS cluster all LEDs and no canbus errors.

i have several sets of the correct colour 4500K H8/16 LED spot lights on the way so will match the HID colour, ill post the pictures when iget them installed. You need to change the the side light with 4500K led as well to get a consistent colour so it should all match up.
