Come along. You know you want to! ;)

Lets not have a mass fall out over something so trivial. Briskoda only is fine by me. Looks like we could be filling the car park anyway! :D

You'll only blow those crap Skoda speakers anyway :D

As for me reconsidering...well, lets wait & see ;)

K, manuals required for Fabia, Octavia and Superb - just in case. BTW, were you expecting to see anything of the Museum? :D

Yes those manuals are very handy....when you have to show the technician who,s doing your car how to fix and regas the air con of your Octy (now departed)

I know the above post is off topic..............but I,m still hoping to make it.

It's a shame that this has developed to a point where someone from our community feels that they have to drop out. I think when we originally came up with the idea of a meet (Steve I hope you don't mind me associating myself with the inception of the idea), I think we thought it would be about a half dozen of us who live in East Anglia and maybe hadn't taken part in one of the other either informal or formal meets this year.

And from there it's kind of snowballed - to the major event it seems to have become now. Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining about numbers - I think it's great that we can get so many people together, BUT......

I don't think this is the right venue for the numbers of people who are turning up, especially if we are now inviting Seat owners as well. As Geoff quite rightly said - this is the Imperial War Museum we are talking about. Call me old-fashioned if you like (someone is bound to), but I was actually looking forward to a day out with my family, meeting some other Briskodians and having a look round the museum.

It now seems to be (and I'm sorry if I'm misreading this) leaning more towards a 'bonnets up' day - with big k dashing from car to car reprogramming central locking and door warnings. I don't disagree with this per se - it's just it's the wrong venue.

I also agree with Des - it would be a shame if Geoff didn't turn up. And I'm also looking forward to putting faces to some of the names on here. But not if it turns into a three ring circus.

So my two-penneth - keep it to Briskodians, think about where we holding it, and try to enjoy the day without turning it into a MaxPower event (sorry if this is too blunt for some!)

:(

I was only taking up k's generous offer here and I dont see any problem with a "bonnets up" event and I dont mean anything Max-power esque either!

I dont agree with loads of non-Briskodian SEATs turning up either, but if some people want to wander round the museum, while others just fancy a chat or even a mini drive then there's something for everyone.

Hopefully there will be time to do all this and enjoy a drink afterwards.

I am still up for coming, hope I am welcome.

Are we doing the Imperial War Museam or the Aviation Museam or are they in the same area?

Matthew, I'm not having a pop at you or anyone else who wants to take advantage of k's very generous offer of reprogramming, it's just that is it really appropriate for the venue?? In the space of 24 hours we've gone from discussing group discounts for entry to the museum to how many pages of the Skoda maintenance manuals k needs to copy.

I can go to Duxford anytime - it's only an hour for me, but I thought it would have been good to share the experience with a group of fellow Briskodians - especially given the recend Rememberance Day thread.

Not my call at the end of the day... majority rules.

Same place i believe :)

And my misgivings are due to the fact its gone from a friendly Briskoda day out, to a Cross-Forum meet and all that entails.

Great idea, but i'm not comfortable with the venue. Just a personal thing.

And i DO want to see Duxford, just that most people i know aren't interested in that sort of thing, this seems like a good chance to visit the museum and meet a few new (and not so new) faces.

Well I am hoping to come (along with at least 1 Miss Kentish) to

a) see some of the names and put faces to them

B) look around the aircraft repair facilities

c) have a nice time.

I dont intend to get involved in "spirited driving",or anything too techie.Discuss anything Skoda or related to my car yes, but anything else is out for me.

My driving license is my license to work, and I never forget that. (but then I drive a Superb..........so spirited corners arent really on, however long straights are good)

Oh and yes...I am touchy about my car, and guard the iginition keys with my life....even my wife has to justify using the car !

Sorry to digress....

Understood Howard,

I'm looking forward most to having a wander round the museum with/meeting new & old fellow briskodians too.

I just imagined the day as having a variety of things going on (not necessarily organised in any way) to suit different people or even their probable different arrival/departure times etc. e.g a drive after the meet for those who might want to and people are bound to want to compare mods etc (although I appreciate thats not the real "point to the meet")

Maybe i've got the wrong impression, but still looking forward to it all the same!

btw, do I really need door open warnings anyway? :D

No probs Matthew - the only thing we do need to coordinate is entry to the museum if we want to take advantage of the group discount.

I've always wanted to write on a rear view mirror on an American car - "Objects in this mirror are behind you" :D

I've posted a poll to get some idea of numbers.

Andy - that was generally the whole idea for the meet :D

I thought it would be nice for briskoda members to come along (with their families if they want) to a friendly get-together, where the focus of the day wouldn't *just* be about our cars - or sticking in one huge group once we go into Duxford. Hopefully this will help to encourage "first timers" to come along and say hello.

There will still be the chance to check out the cars, etc (bribe bigK to do some tweaking, etc...) beforehand, and the evening is open-ended right now, so there really shouldn't be anything to stop people getting as much as they want out of the meet.

I think perhaps this time we should try and stick mostly to briskoda members to retain the "first-timer friendliness". I've got no probs with the Seat guys coming along, but I can see how that might discourage some people from here attending... rock? hard place? tra la la... :D

Stimps

Could not have put it better myself. I agree 101% with everything you said.

We did the Great Southern Scoob meet at Longleat a couple of years ago when we had the STI, it was Subaru only meet although not any particular club or Forum. Apart from a pre aranged rendevous in the afternoon for a group photo everybody did their own thing.

It meant that Wifes, Kids, the Non Petrol Headed people as well as us unfortunate car nuts all had a good day out.
