Problem enabling high beam assist VCDS

Featured Replies

Hi all, I’m new to the forum so forgive me if this is in the wrong place.

Just bought an L&K Superb and an Audi owning friend has been making a few changes for me using VCDS. Everything has gone well and exactly as described on briskoda with the exception of enabling the high beam assist function. We followed the instructions from the VCDS tried and tested page but we can’t find “assistant light functions” (green on the photo). The 2nd bit works fine “controller A5” (red on the photo). Any idea where we are going wrong?

Genuine VCDS?

Did you use the search facility to look for “Assistant light functions” or “Menus light assistant”?

I have personally done the above coding on my 2015 L&K and had no issues.

Yes it’s genuine. Did exactly that with the search function and cut down to minimal wording to be less specific.  We even translated it into German and checked all the German descriptions and no joy. It just didn’t come up in the list. I have a 17 plate L&K. He managed to do other mods as described with no problem (Audi throttle response, traffic sign recognition, rear lights on with day time running lights, fuel volume etc...)

Thinking about it when he did the other mods I described yesterday, initially he did have an issue. Then he unplugged and reconnected and everything worked fine. I wonder if it’s something like that again. He was wondering if something might have changed slightly as the guide was written a few years ago and the VCDS in a different version now.

Possibly, which is why I suggested the search option as the descriptions can change slightly (but are fairly obvious when you search for all the words)

We will give it another go next time he’s free. If I get it sorted I’ll update this thread.

Right I think we got it sorted after a lot of searching though various threads. Here is the Info we found collated into one place:

Controller 09, Adaptations 10:
ENG10578-ENG116637-Fernlicht_assistent-Menuesteuerung Fernlichtassistent adapted from "Not Present" to "present"
ENG10578-ENG116641-Fernlicht_assistent-Menuesteuerung Fernlichtassistent Werkseinstellung adapted from "Not Present" to "present"
ENG10578-ENG10901-Fernlicht_assistent-Erweiterte_Fernlichtsteuerung - AFS: BCM-Fernlicht Erweiterte_Fernlichtsteuerung auf "AFS: FLA: BCM-Fernlicht" setzen

And Controller A%, Coding 07:
Byte 21 - Change to High Beam Assist or change to "20"

Controller A5 (Front / front view camera)

07 - Coding

Byte 21

Change to  High Beam Assist or change to "20"

Hope this helps someone. Thanks to Gizmo and JR RS.

No worries, I had the same frustrations! There’s a bit of duplication at the end of the post, I couldn’t figure out how to edit it.

I think it would be a good idea if @Gizmo was to edit his post here to include a reference to this thread as most of the later models encounter this issue.
