ODB11 new app

Featured Replies

I've just noticed a new app has appeared for the S3. It is called "Ambient Colors" and lets you have either the default 10 colours or a new setting of 30 colours.

I haven't tried it out as I have mine permanently set as blue (happy with it) but it might be something that others may want for novelty value.

Of course you have to have ambient lighting fitted.

Interesting!

Wonder what the VCDS settings are?

Hi Terry - slightly OT but have you been collecting the credits? For the last couple of days it's given me a server error when I've tried.

Yes Jeff every day. It has been working fine for months now. Try hard reboot of your Android device - that sometimes fixes problems like that. I have over 1400 now but nothing to spend it on until SWMBO gets a VAG car!

What credits are these then?

They are a method for using OBDeleven. Apps are one-touch changes that you can make without using long coding. Each app costs a certain number of credits. You can get credits for "free" by clicking on (from memory) profile / wallet and clicking on the green "+" button. Choose "free credit" and "ok" and it will direct you to an advert lasting from 5 to 30 seconds. After the ad is finished you will see 1 more credit added to your total. There is a maximum of about 4-5 credits a day that can be added in this way. Alternatively you can buy blocks of credits.

I've used apps to make changes (eg traction control, High Beam Assist) without problems, but  there is a healthcare warning from some of the long coding experts that changes made in this way may not be reversible, or may change other things you didn't want changing.

Are there any apps for turning some kind of speed limiter on? I'm really struggling without it and would buy this in a heartbeat if it does.

you set a speed limiter in the cars settings- don't need OBD11 or VCDS.

Is there one to switch swmbo off?

Yes, but it's very very expensive. :cash:

Maybe @Auric Goldfinger needs to be informed of this thread!

I don't have that option. I have a speed warning option but it doesn't actually limit the cars speed to that value. In my previous two Citroen cars I could set the cruise speed or the speed limit. If I set the speed limit to say 40, I could accelerate hard and the car would softly slow the acceleration between 35->40 and then not let me accelerate any further unless I kicked-down past the accelerate pedals initial stop point. This is what I am trying to replicate, an actual speed limiter.

Yes you're right I though it was speed warning you referred to.

i think speed limiter would need traffic sign recognition and collision assistant present to work and even then only theoretical.

There is a button on the underside of the ACC stalk which activates the speed limiter. Not really sure why you'd bother though.

I just checked and there is no button on the underside of the ACC stalk. If I found a stalk with the button does anyone know if it an easy swap and would it work without programming?

I used it extensively for the last four years. Set the limit and just drive normally without having to constantly check the speedometer. Superb in 20/30/40 high traffic zones where ACC is useless. Keeps the eyes more alert on road conditions.

I just checked mine. The button is definately under the stalk closer to the steering column. On the front of the stalk do you "mode"

Some models of the SIII are not fitted with the speed limiter. My L&K has it as does Adrian's Sportline.

What trim level of Superb do you have @Freedom?

Can someone please post a picture of this button ? I really cannot understand where exactly it is located.

Thanks :)

Attached 2 pics, if you have the mode button it wilk say mode, you can "just" see the switch under and also a pic of underneath the switch showing the actual button. IMG_20180927_121735.thumb.jpg.30eb20d701feb7b8955950617b39a956.jpg

It can also look like these shots below dependent upon variant ACC or regular cruise.

This button was added for 2017 or 2018 models, not sure exactly of the year, but our 2016 model also doesn't have it.

I was just having a dig through OBDeleven apps on my phone, and the Ambient Colours app seems to have disappeared. Did anyone try it? Did it cause any problems?
