It is the new class 'Hot Lift Back,  so the inspiration is 'Micro Furnace'

& as you swing your foot trying to get the virtual pedal to work you can warm your legs.

Have you seen the new RAV4?  dear god!

  • It would have been better if you'd merged this one with the other, it had Tarraco spelt correctly

  • Therefore a wise man buys a saloon or estate with much higher discounts to be had

  • People also buy what advertising tells them to. Never ceases to amaze me, but it must be true.

Here we go, first report, dunno looks cheaper to me than Kodiaq. Bet the price point wont be less than Kodiaq

The first and obvious thing for me.

The centre controls, work well with a left hand drive car if you are right handed.  I am right handed and actually find the centre buttons / controls a PITA.

Good gearbox, Autohold and Ebrake switches PITA and not easy seen in a right hand drive, just as well never really needing touched.

If trying to get a £1 coin out of the square hole do not pull that E-Brake on in error.....

EDIT,

my bad, no little storage on that one, just a blanking cover behind the 'Autohold'

And just like all the other SEATs, the start/stop button is in a completely useless place for RHD vehicles - the gearstick is between you and the button.

That infotainment screen seems to get swallowed up a bit by the dash.

Interesting to see the door cards are identical to the Kodiaq's.

Those seats would take some getting used to!

I know opinion on the 'Audi' phasing rear indicators divides opinion but good to see them here.

A shorter video for those less patient

I'm seeing far more Tiguan Allspace cues than Kodiaq.  The initial reports indicated a Kodiaq "copy" but this looks like an Allspace rebadge to me.

Why the f@?k have all manufacturers decided that everyone on the planet needs every new vehicle to be a frigging crossover SUV???

Even ford have said the mondeo is being ditched to sell more suvs.

Most people dont need them, but still they are pushed as brilliant all rounders with loads of space, despite being built off small car chassises in most cases.. just make decent regular hatchbacks/saloons and sell them.

The area around the gear shifter look identical to Tiguan yeah

We are all, at times, victims of fashion.  It’s that time.

Ford have given up on sedans in the US.

Because people buy them - loads of them. Car makers are making profits and therefore will continue to make them.

It didn’t start all of a sudden. I am sure they do research on what people want.

Your post in General Car Chat seems the correct place for a thread on a SEAT.

Manufacturers build cars that sell i.e. that their customers want.

This isn't a case of manufacturers forcing something out to their customers that they aren't asking for.

SUV's are in demand, "regular hatchbacks/saloons" aren't.

Be quick, they won't be around for long!

Crossovers,  tall Hatchbacks,

Tall 2 wheel Drives like an Arona, Ateca, Karoq,T-Roc are in the class of a Juke, Captur, etc, tall hatchbacks not Mini SUV's. Just SUV look alikes.

Even part time AWD still does not make them a SUV, or used not to, but now marketing seems to have them as so.

It's all about ride height, head space and looking good.

No one cares about the cars actual off-road capabilities, as long as it looks as though it can 'go anywhere', that's all that matters.

Sure you lose some composure when cornering hard, but again no one cares. The Nurburgring isn't part of anyone's commute.

Instead we have potholes, cyclists, kerbs and other stuff to drive over. Longer suspension and bigger tyres make that easier.

Oh, and the majority of people think SUV's are better looking than regular, boring cars, and that is enough of a reason for wanting want one on their drive.

Would a Ford Focus suit the school run as well as a Ford Kuga? Absolutely, but the Focus has less appeal than acne.

The SUV is here to stay, at least for now. Take it on the chin and accept it as progress. Enjoy it whilst you can, the next 'trend' is only just around the corner.

I guess many like me would also like to see through the car next door when leaving a car park space.......then an F450/Ram comes along.

Regular Top 5 UK sellers, Focus, Golf, Polo, Fiesta, maybe in there a Corsa, Astra etc etc, a Qashqai maybe.

So we will see what 2019 brings, and what actually the manufacturers got supplied & first registered in 2018.

The crossovers are getting there and the SUV's, but many do just need transport, buy or lease and it can be all about what is on offer at the right price.

All the Skoda models & SEAT models first registered in the UK in a year might not add up to how many just Fiesta are first registered in a year.

Vauxhall Mokka has loads first registered, but like the top 'Sellers' lots are bought by Motability Finance & hire companies.

SEAT Global sales maybe 1/2 of Skoda.
