problem after Replace EGR valve

Featured Replies

Hi All

I would like to get some help.

After replacing the EGR valve, (brand new VAG) the engine light is on, cannot clear the error codes P0405 and P0403.

My questions are,

- What can be the cause of these codes?

- Is it possible to do the learning process with VCDS (or other software) to adopt the new EGR valve?

How should this resolve?

Thank you in advance.

There should be a basic setting/adaptation under the engine module for the EGR. My guess - a broken wire on the connector or a bad new EGR (especially if it is a cheap aftermarket one), mostly due to the P0403 error, that one usually points out to the external issue (not the lack of the adaptation).

Thank you for your answer,

The EGR valve is a brand new VAG (now I fixed it in my original question)

What kind (exactly what should set) of basic settings needed in the engine module?

Thank you

Hi

How Can I do the adaptation It has an error code, and I cannot clear it, therefore the Measurement block ö8 is disabled. I used the VCDS.

4900 - EGR Sensor 1
          P0405 00 [175] - Signal too Low

I cannot clear this error code.

Thank you in advance.

Are you absolutely sure that the wiring is fully functional? What usually happens is that people damage the connector or the wires on it while attempting to remove the EGR, and that they're not aware of it

I just hope. In the service, the car technician mechanic assures me it has not damaged.

What is the problem is the most common cases with the cables?
How can we determine the cable is bad?
Each cables one by one should check by endless resistance and it not short to ground.

Can be occurred this any other problem except for the "broken wire on the connector"?

Thank you in advance.

A good multimeter and a genuine EGR wiring (car specific).

The car service technician person stated he checked all and all is perfect.

It should have been to check by myself.

That procedure relates to petrol engined cars. It would appear the OP has a diesel.

That's true, but the diesel's EGR (at least regarding VCDS) isn't well documented, it doesn't hurt to try. But based on the mentioned error code which can't be cleared, the usual suspect is the wiring.

Some discussion for the petrol EGRs:

Hi All,

There is a number on the EGR valve which begins with letter V if this number is below 600 it should be adapt it the number above 600 not need the adaptation process.

Replaced the EGR valve to another new one where the number is above 600.

I cleared all error codes it works as we expected.
