Help needed with dpf light please

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. So as above I'm hoping for some help with a DPF light.  Car is  09 reg VRS you.  It has been remapped at some point in the past but I have no other info.  Basically with the new mot changes I had to get a new dpf and related sensors to get it through.  After less than 500 miles the dpf warning light came on.  So took it back, a forced regen was done as apparently it wasn't doing it of its own accord.  The guy said that as the map wasn't standard he couldn't say if the issue was fixed and to see what happened. Less than 10 miles in the light came on again.

So, unsure on how to proceed as I'm wanting to sell the Car. Do I get a reputable tuner to look into it and see what he finds, do I see if I can get a stock map put back on or do I sell it cheap as it is? Apologies if I've missed any relevant info, it's done just under 109k and apart from said remap as far as i know is standard.

Many thanks I'm advance

If the dpf was removed it will have had a dpf delete map too.

You either need to stock software putting on or flashing with a tuned map with dpf support.

And that would cause the regenlight to keep coming on? Ok thanks for the info.  I guess the next question is does anyone know anyone that could do this near to Portsmouth? I rang Skoda and they were very unhelpful

See if Shark have a dealer near you, they might be able to help.

Almost certainly. It'll never attempt a regeneration so once it's full of soot the light will come on :)

Not entirely sure which engine a 09 vRS would have had, assuming it's the EA189 CR170, you could take it for the "emissions fix" if it's not done already. This is free from Skoda and will wipe out the DPF delete map. If it's a PD170 or you want to avoid the "emissions fix" (which is understandable), then you need to talk to a decent tuner.

I wouldn't recommend driving it... If the soot level gets too high it's not possible to force a regen so it would need the DPF removing and cleaning or replacing.

The only worry is what else was done when the DPF was removed.

Thanks for the further info. I'm going to get someone to look into the current map and go from there. I'm not driving it but I'm also not convinced it actually needs a regen, as mentioned before the dpf is less than 3 weeks old and a forced regen was done literally less than 30 miles before the light came on again. Bloody cars eh

It depends if it actually did a full regen when you forced one. Given the DPF delete map it may have finished early or done nothing at all :)
