Adaptive Cruise Control Symbol ?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what this symbol is that has appeared on my Adaptive Cruise Control distance display?

I'm talking about the two arcs in the bottom right hand corner of the 'set follow distance' or 'vehicle in front acquired' display.

Those two arcs were not there a month ago but last week, there was the 'bong' look at the dashboard noise and when I looked at the display (ACC was engaged), the two arcs had appeared (and been on ever since).

ACC still works fine. Local Skoda dealer has no idea

I'm guessing it's a steering wheel...maybe...possibly?

That would surprise me.... The steering wheel has suddenly disappeared or stopped working

Have you tried cleaning the sensor?

Mine has always shown those since I collected the Superb with 2600 miles on the clock.

I assumed they were a representation of the steering wheel to simulate the view looking forward.

Would be interesting to know if a left hand drive car has the image on the other side.

But if you are sure they weren't there before, then I am wondering if they indicate some sort of fault that we should be aware of!!

It's always there.

Yes, it depicts the steering wheel.

Yes, it's different for RHD/LHD.

If you have the monochrome MFD the 'steering wheel' is white as in OP's picture.

If you have the colour MFD it's grey.

99% certain those two arcs weren't there before last week.  In fact, if you look at any of the pictures in any of the Skoda manuals,  those arcs are missing...

Maybe it depends on whether lane assist is also active or not when ACC is in use.

I've had that since day 1.

I haven't noted if it's always there though.

Hmmm.... interesting comment.  Could be but I don't have 'lane assist' on my Superb.

To me ... this all points to a fault ... as it wasn't there for 10 months but it has been  there for the last week.

I have had them all the time and don't have lane assist.

Well .... Here's an update.......

Iv'e been in touch with Skoda UK ... see below for their response. From their comments and by re-reading the manual (page 195 in my hard copy) , I can see that those two arcs should appear on the 'Lane Assist' display and not the ACC distance display. My Superb has no lane assist fitted so I'm pretty sure something is going off (and so is Skoda). It's booked in for a diagnostic next week. I'll report back here what they find...

I have looked into your query and can confirm that the symbol you describe is a feature of the Lane Assist display as illustrated at the following link on page 252: https://ws.skoda-auto.com/OwnersManualService/Data/en/Superb_3V/05-2017/Manual/Superb/B8_Superb_OwnersManual.pdf?_ga=2.50816617.1988543789.1540885983-39850ed1-22f3-4f54-a495-3933d497fe7d

As for the reason it appears on the Adaptive Cruise Control display, this is something I am unable to confirm. I would recommend that you speak with your local ŠKODA Retailer with a view to having your vehicle booked in for a diagnosis.

makes sense, and as i suspected, those arcs represent the steering wheel - hence being lane assist related.

I too have these symbols shown and assumed they also visualise the steering wheel. I don't see why the wouldn't be shown when using ACC. No issues with mine. So interested to see if this is resolved in this thread.

+1. This is what mine looks like.

I have LA, but can't see what difference it would make - the picture is an ACC view not an LA view. My early prediction is that the person at Skoda UK has just looked at the manual, seen it looks different from your picture, and said to book it in. I'm betting there is no fault to be found, but will await the results with interest.

Thanks for your interest and post folks..... I also hope there is no fault ... but would rather get it checked out....

1. Pretty certain the 'steering wheel' symbol has not been there from the beginning.

2. I think it is to do with lane assist (only) ..... but I don't have lane assist fitted (more the pity )

3. It's not shown in any of the pictures that only show ACC (in any of the manuals that is) .... but its interesting that folks are coming up with pictures of the 'steering wheel' on the ACC display

You could well be right about Skoda UK just going for the easy option ...... as you say Jeff ..... lets see what the diagnostic turns up

I’m sure mine has always had them. I don’t have LA, just ACC.

here's mine with just Lane Assist active, and ACC turned off.

here it is again, but this time both Lane Assist and ACC active.

I appreciate that this is an old thread, but was the cause of this ever found? My 2018 220 Superb has just done the same thing today. And I know the two arcs weren't there previously!

I think you’ll find that they have, you just haven’t noticed them.
The OP in this thread does not appear to’ve come back to it back in Nov 18 to update it with the outcome of the dealer visit. Did he go and they said “that’s normal” or did he realise what others here have said; yep, it’s normal.
