Rain sensor

Featured Replies

Nor me, but there is a system that does indeed prevent them from just activating after start up, to prevent trying to work against frozen blades.  IIRC the car has to reach around 10 km/h before it realises you must be able to see so it’s probably ok to wipe the window.

The reactivation can also be automated, at the same time as the seatbelt warning chime, automatic door locking and the deactivation of the front parking sensors.

If the screen is wet on a morning, when you start the engine the wipers won't work without intervention.

Me neither.

I believe the auto wipers do wait until you reach a certain speed before activating.  I thought I'd I read that in a manual but I can't locate it now.  That would explain why they don't start up as soon as you turn the ignition on.

OTOH I think I did once have the wipers try to sweep when they were frozen to the windscreen, after leaving them in auto when I'd parked it up the evening before.  So maybe I'm wrong after all.  Hey ho. the joys of old age...

EDIT: Looks like weasley beat me to it - and that I must be mistaken about the frozen wiper incident.

When I bought my yeti 6 months ago. Rain sensor was disabled. Not sure if it came disabled from factory or previous owner had it disabled.

I just enabled it in vcds and everything works well.

If you have auto headlight switch you have a rain sensor. It is the same sensor.

I only had no dimming mirror, but found one on eBay and fitted this.

I am searching how to disable AutoWipe on ignition using VCDS. This very annoying in winter. This would be very useful feature.

I see no problem to reactivate wiper switch every time after ignition instead of getting all snow in cabin if u start ignition with open doors.

Can you or someone knows how to do this.

If you don't want to use the auto wipe feature why not just click the wiper stalk down one to off and use it manually, or is that too easy?

In the VAG cars I have had (Yeti, A1, Leon) the auto wipers have never wiped the screen when switching the ignition on, only when you start moving.  The whole point is to prevent the wipers tearing if frozen to the screen.  This time of year my wipers tend to stay in the 'Auto' position almost constantly.

This whole thread smacks of a wind up.

Me neither. I don't think.
