ACC Unavailable

Featured Replies

Having read through the forums I can't see this exact thread so wanted to start a new one.

Having had my SE Business with ACC for a year now. Loving the ACC and use it daily. Have also trekked across Europe with in full use. I found out on the German Autobahn it functioned great but would max out at 100mph. A safety thing I think.

Anyway the issue I have had is ACC Unavailable. It's happened twice in the year. First time it happen, I found a restart of the car fixed it. It functioned for a few months then last month the same warning, ACC Unavailable. Front assist still showed as working. Restart failed.Checked all obvious reasons for it not working, flies and dirt covered radar.. Nothing there, clean

A call to the dealer led to a booking to inspect it. However two further journeys with ACC not available and also 24 hours later. Taa data... ACC was back on form. I did nothing.

Great. Called the dealer who advised to still keep the booking.  The outcome. A fault diagnosed with the sensors. Very interesting as ACC is still working. But the fault is still shown to the engineers. So sensors are booked to be replaced under warranty.

I'll keep you posted on that outcome.

This is happening to my MY19 SE L Octavia, can you tell me the outcome?

My 2019 Octavia is booked in next week for the same reason. I took it to them without a booking two days ago and they had a quick look and thought it was camera related. My lane assist also has stopped working. I’ll post an update when they’ve fixed it.

I suffered this problem back in March 2019. To rectify it the radar unit had to be recalibrated. This is quite an expensive procedure and,  I was told, not covered by the warranty. The work had to be contracted out by the Skoda dealer to a third party. As my car is on Contract Hire I complained and ended up getting a contribution from Skoda Finance and the Dealer. That said I still  had to pay £119!

Mine is booked in next week for similar ... I'm not looking forward to it ... Apparently it can happen if the sensor gets knocked ... Well mine stopped working while parked overnight on the drive ... Funny how when you buy the car they dont say Oh and sometime before your warranty runs out you may have to have your cruise control recalibrated at a cost of  few hundred quid....

Oh but it wont be covered because you must have hit something to knock it out of calibration ... Even when the sensor is behind a nice big plastic shield with no damage anywhere....

My dealer thinks it is the camera control board and they have ordered another one to install soon. I hope they are right 😊

Jammy ! Does anyone have a picture of the camera ? I May make one tonight then I can say mine probably has the same fault.

I have just picked up my car from having the front camera control board replaced and, so far, the ACC and Lane Assist all work.

Mine was sorted with a simple reset.

What's a 'simple reset'?

Asking as my ACC has become unavailable this evening.

Heh.

Went out to car this morning and all working fine. Go figure :)

Assuming you have checked the sensor cover is clean, it might need a fault code clearing. I did this for a friend with an Audi, his ACC had been “unavailable” for a while, but as soon as I cleared the fault code it was fine and still is a year later,

Yeah, was going to do a scan when I got home. Am currently holidaying in Ireland :D

There seems to be a lot of dealers not having a clue what they’re working with here and just taking guesses lol.

if your acc is unavailable it means there is a problem, the car knows there is a problem and will of already self diagnosed it leaving a fault code. Chances are the calibration of the front radar will be knocked out by something as simple as a pot hole. The reason it comes and goes is because it could be just on the threshold of the tolerances before throwing a code.

This is one of them systems with a very good self diagnosis and a very small tolerance for error and should be straight forward to work out the fault.

a simple reset probably means they have no idea and just cleared the codes and gave it back and if it happens again they’ll take a look.

it’s worrying how many ‘qualified’ people don’t know anything about adas systems

Hi all.  Reading with interest your posts regarding "ACC not Available".  Having suffered NO damage to the front bumper (not even the slightest scratch), my car threw up this fault 6 weeks ago.  I would not reset by switching off and restarting.  Took it to the dealer.  They diagnosed radar out of alignment.  They found no damage, so realigned it and recalibrated it.  Cost £432.00! Ouch!  So yesterday whilst driving home the fault appeared again, again no apparent reason.  I only washed the car 3 days ago so there is no dirt or flies on the radar cover.  Initially the dealer said 2 weeks for a booking but when I explained this is the second time in around 6 weeks and only 1028 miles of driving, they found an appointment for me this Friday.  I will post here the result of that visit.  Any advice from you guys before I visit them?

Just to check, was it raining?

I've had this come up twice and both times was during a torrential downpour - which obviously makes the vehicle in front unreadable.

It did however initialise by itself on the same drive, after the rain eased. So mine wasn't a fault, it was working as intended by disabling for safety reasons.

Possibly not applicable to you, but worth a mention for anyone else thinking they've had a fault when it may have been weather conditions.

I don't think so.  If it was, it would have been a light drizzle and I was only driving 30mph.  The road ahead was clear and there was nothing either side of me, just pavement to my left and the other carriageway to my right, no barriers etc.  It was getting dark if that makes a difference.

I had this problem and I noticed that the plastic cover on the front sensor, whilst not damaged, the silver stripes on it looked a bit odd, especially after rain.

What was happening was that water was somehow getting into the plastic cover (though there was no apparent damage) and I suspected this was interfering with the sensor.

The garage agreed it looked unusual, replaced the plastic cover and all has been well since.

That's great info, thank you.  Going to the dealer tomorrow so I will mention it. 👍
