Heated Windscreen

Featured Replies

I'm looking to fit a heated windscreen to my MK3 fabia and wondered if any of you have any experience of this? I've seen this kit https://www.heatedwindscreen.com/acatalog/SKODA-FABIA-2014-ON-HEATED-WINDSCREEN-7818AGNH.html and wondered what you all think of it? Defrosting my windscreen is taking me ages at the moment and last year using the scraper from the fuel cap has caused me to leave scratches on my windscreen.

Sounds very interesting...

Does your Fabia have auto lights and therefore a sensor on the windscreen? If so, does this heated screen have a sensor?

A frosty windscreen is a pain for me as well.

I use a car window cover which goes over all the windows and is held on to the car at each corner.

It also just covers the door mirrors as well. It is like this one:-

The type of ice scraper you want is like this:-

It wont work off a sensor it will just be a switch as its for a rally car used them a few times on saloon race cars

Would it affect the warranty?

If it leaks because poorly fitted then the warranty will not cover you, but that isothermal same with any replaced screen.  If you fry the electrics again that will be down to yourself.

I don't think that answered the question you posted to, the question, as far as I read it, asked if the original screen had sensors on it for some of that car's systems, if so, fitting a heated screen without any of these sensors would mess some systems up.

I'm getting the same concerns as I feared. It really doesn't sound like a good idea. The car is an SEL so has automatic lights. I think I'm going to have to go for something like AGFalco suggested and maybe cover it so there's less to deal with. I just don't think I can risk the issues with replacing the screen at the moment. My next car I'll just have to make sure I get one with one fitted.

A desiccant moisture bag to put on the dashboard over night helps with mist on the inside of the screen.

Mine ( when not on the dash ) fits inside the flat pocket below the handbrake lever is if it was made for it.

Also make sure you clean the inside of the windscreen very thoroughly with a glass cleaner.

I think Lidl had some car covers in stock recently. You don't want the plastic ones.

The only problem is if you put the cover on the car when it is wet, at it then freezes overnight.
