Fuel consumption: four Octavias, sixteen years

Featured Replies

Having just bought my fifth Octavia and having always kept a note of average fuel consumption, I thought the attached graph may be of interest.

Sorry that I am a little vague about the exact models. The remarkable improvement in the 58 registered car through its life is interesting while the gradual decrease in the 61 reg. was not really noticed until the graph was drawn.

Not sure this is a guide?

You might want to add how you were measuring it, is it just from the trip computer or from fill ups vs odometer? The former is known for being inaccurate...

On a related note, I filled my Octavia up for the 168th time today: http://www.fuelly.com/car/skoda/octavia/2011/langers2k/600377/fuelchart

Sorry if I posted in the wrong place but I did deliberately try to avoid the guides section.

It was from the trip so if it is of no value, so be it!

The trip is fine to compare a car against itself but less useful to compare it against others :)

Mine was ~13% optimistic when I got it.

Don't worry about where it's posted, it's just good to see the comparisons.

Assuming (!) comparable errors in the trip meters between the models, the standout feature is how head-and-shoulders clear the 1.9 tdi is above all the others.

What does the S in SY stand for, by the way?

SY is the start of the registration number.

All cars were the 'smallest' diesel engine at the time of purchase.
