or 99 ron instead of 95 ron 183.8 bhp that would be interesting.

 

As it is you can get the 177  BHP car from the factory and on Super Unleaded 99 ron get 189 bhp.

You can run them on 95 ron and get rough starting and running. 

 

It is up to people if they use Unleaded or Super Unleaded or if it is possible to.   Fuels are regulated. 

As to Octane Boosters who knows.

Fuel is ideally what I want to use, sadly its 95 only here unless a booster is used. No real way of knowing I guess

That can depend on the engine - my Citroen C1 (which has a Toyota 1KR-FE engine) is quite happy if I add Redex to the tank, and so was both my previous Audi RS4 and my wife previous 1.2 Fabia; but my 1.4TSI Octavia throws random O2 sensor faults (which don't make it go into limp mode but are irritating).

Yes mine is like this also, 98 is the recommended...just so annoying we can't get it....and i see in one of you subsequent posts you make  good point, there is a big difference between octane booster and fuel cleaner etc.....not the same thing at all

Sorry.... Correction mine says min 95 which implies use higher at least 

Does it?. 

 It just means do not use 92 ron if you were someplace where that was available.

 

Your Owners Manual tells you about the use of Higher Octanes.

Sorry off topic, is that a VRS Octavia ? If so when did the Tyre Size change to 235? Which is what it should have been in the first place. Pressure down form 2.9 to 2.6 too, to be expected with more volume I suppose.  My label is different, apart from it only states wheel diameter and not full tyre size ? It also states 95 ron but then has Super Unleaded etc the same as yours on the right. complete shambles, like most of Skoda Documentation.

The key constituents and characteristics of petrol are covered by legislation (will vary by country and climate conditions), the vehicle tests for economy and emissions (using 95 octane fuel) are legislated, but I'd be surprised if there is any legislation covering a third party fuel additive whatever its claimed function.

 

The video test was interesting and I can understand why they reached that conclusion but there are still too many factors not catered for and assumptions made to say it was conclusive. The product claims to improve petrol and diesel, and I really find that claim to rich to be true.

Maybe the first set of runs actually cleared out carbon and fuel injectors? How accurate was the test rig?

You may remember that some fairly distinguished scientists thought they had discovered 'cold fusion' but because the experiment could not be replicated the results were declared invalid.

I was trying to illustrate that adding ANY "snake oil" into the fuel can have unwanted effects on cars like ours fitted with wide range O2 sensors but older cars with narrow range O2 sensors are quite happy with.

'Snake Oil'  is the 'Flush' for your Fuel System that might be offered at VW Group Main Dealer Servicing when they are 'Upselling'.

 

Difference is it is official VAG Snake Oil.

Since the VW Group have no 'Snake Oil' factories it is Bottled for them & manufactured by others. Maybe to a special formulation from all the other Snake Oil that manufacturer produces...

Just like the Oil that is used, Brake Fluid, Grease, Filters, Plugs, Injectors, Tyres and much else. Consumables procured and used.
