Service Schedule - Item List of things to do

Featured Replies

I'm not quite sure why someone would complain at a £139 main dealer first service being overly expensive.

Assuming it's an oil and filter change plus the usual bits (diagnostics check, visual check and wash and vac) then it's very reasonable in my opinion.

If your car is collected and dropped off, you used their Wi-Fi, or drank their coffee, watched their TV, read their newspaper, put miles on their courtesy car etc. then I'd be hard pressed to arrive at a figure that would seem better value.

'Skoda UK' insist nothing, it is just in the T&C's,

they have a Website and an offer from Participating Dealers and some participate and some do not and some are cheaper and some are more expensive and Rod McLeod or some other Skoda UK Management if asked likely have not a clue and need to look see what the website says.

Whilst Skoda UK do not insist that dealers offer these prices, they do insist, by the very fact it is mentioned in their terms and conditions, that your car must be three years old or older.

But, as mentioned, in the same way some dealers won't offer these prices, my dealer will, and also on cars less than three years old.

So my advice would be if your chosen dealer won't honour these prices, or apply them to cars less than 3 years old, then find a better dealer.

Ive got the yellow sticker for the aircon , but not the Oil one in my engine bay , as i was looking for it from day 1. And mine is set to Extended longlife , even though i will change every year most likley 14/16 k miles .What annoyed me is that the invoice quoted Castrol MAGNATEC A3 5W40,  which is not long life and i had confirmation from skodsa that it shoud be 5W30  504  THE 507 being diesel spec , so monday complete new oil change again

Castrol MAGNATEC A3 5W40 is wholly unsuitable. It's approvals include VW 502.00 and 505.00, but not the required VW 504.00 (fixed intervals) or VW 507.00 (long life / variable intervals).

502.00 whilst OK for petrol engines should NOT be used for variable (long life) service intervals.

505.00 is for diesel engines only.

Lets be clear.

VW 502 is perfectly OK for a 1.4 or a 1.5 TSi Euro 6 car for Fixed Service Intervals'  that is 5w 40 Full Synthetic to VW502.

9,400 miles / 372 days which ever comes first.

Some might want that oil in TSI's, and it is to Manufacturers Spec, that is VW Group the Manufacturers.

VW504 is Petrol Engines Long life and the VW 507 is Diesel engines long life and that is 5w 30 FS Long Life, so VW 504 / 507.

Diesels need the VW504 / 507 if Fixed or Variable / flexible.  So to VW 507.

But the car in question isn't on the fixed service interval. It was serviced at 11 months / 16,000 miles, so is on variable (long life).

Assuming the car is still set to variable, the oil they've used (VW 502.00 / VW 505.00) is not suitable.

correct thats why  i made the call , and they will now put in the 504 spec oil  5w/30  , the main annoyence is they should have been aware as they reset the service trip  for long life , and how hard is it on a simple oil change not to get it right first time ....

Good job you checked the invoice!
