One remaining issue - slight rattle/squeak - Passenger side

Featured Replies

So I had some little issues with my car when I picked it up last week - all more or less resolved. Boot lights resolved when I installed the Superskoda ones, glovebox light resolved when I managed to get some WD40 into the plunger.

The car is now feeling near perfect with one small exception.

I've got one of those little squeaks/rattles that is proving difficult to locate.

From the driving seat I can confirm it's coming from the passenger area. It isn't bump related, so I can go over speed bumps for example and there is no noise at all, however when there is vibration, so some nasty road surface, I can sometimes hear it.

It's a difficult noise to try and describe. I was driving slow and had music on and my initial thought was that the speaker simply couldn't cope with the bass, and it was the speaker making the noise. When I switched the sound off, the noise continued, it is that kind of sound, but only when there are slight vibrations through the car.

You can see the trouble I'm having describing the issue here, I'm going to have the same issue describing this to a Skoda technician as it simply doesn't happen all the time :)

Are there any "known" sources of vibration/rattle/squeak on these cars? Something I can investigate first?

I know the car will never be perfect, there will be more wind noise than a premium vehicle, the cabin will be generally noiser than a premium brand, but I feel that a 12 month old car probably shouldn't have this kind of noise.

Cheers all.

Seat belt adjuster on the B Pillar?

Mine has a slight 'buzz' to it.

I had an investigation around the seal belt adjuster, not convinced that is the source.

I've sat in the passenger seat and pressed all pieces of trim, just feeling for something not sitting right, but cannot find anything.

If I sit inside the car and close that door, for a split second as the door shuts you can hear the rattle. It feels like something door related.

Zipped off an email to one of my local main dealers about getting the car in to be looked at. In the meantime I'll continue to investigate, but everything feels so well put together, just cannot find anything that feels lose.

The fact: rattles will increase with time.

Check that the seat height adjuster lever isn't loose and tapping the seat. That was the cause on my last octavia

Oh I know :)

No car is ever perfect and certainly not one that is considered a more budget brand - although I do feel this car is better put together than my Mk2.5

Thanks - I'll take a look there as I'm running out of things on the door it possibly could be!

So sir, it is highly possible you've just managed to point me in the right direction.

I slide some paper between the lever and the seat and drive home this evening and I'm 99% sure that is where I'm hearing the rattle.

What was your fix on that one? Warranty? I'm guessing it would be possible to add something permanently to the edge of the seat height adjustor, small piece of material for example.

Also try the sunglasses holder, mine can be a right pain in the arse at certain rpm, needs a fairly firm slam shut to stop it!

Hi, glad I could help. I purchased some sticky back felt circles from a hardware shop and stuck one down. Worked a treat.

Double check the umbrella storage at front of the passenger seat too. When I picked my 9 month old mk3 up I was getting a slight rattle sound. Turned out it was the umbrella which was still in its wrapper.
