Electrical problems - Scout

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Mark 2 Octavia Scout which has developed an electrical fault which causes a 5 amp fuse (no 6) in the dash to frequently blow. The circuit serves the dashboard, haldex clutch and power steering.  The mechanic I use has been unable to identify what's causing the problem.  I am trying everything to avoid having to get an auto electrician so I thought I would see if anyone here might know of any similar faults and what has caused it.  My mechanic suspects it may be the dashboard cluster. Many thanks for any help,

Just another thought but the haldex controller has been known to suffer water ingress through the casing seals or plugs.  Does the fuse blowing correlate with heavy rain and have you checked the haldex is functioning?

You've not mentioned what year your car is?

At least for some cars, there is a TPI 2035679/1 for wiring damage to the instrument cluster which could cause the fuse to blow although it's not a listed symptom. I'd be tempted to remove the cluster and check the wiring that connects to it for damage.
