Mk 3 Scout (FL) Water Ingress

Featured Replies

Anyone had issues with water appearing in the driver's footwell on particularly wet days?

As well as running down the plastic side panel forward of the door, I've also discovered that the water is behind the dash - below the storage compartment that sits underneath the headlight switch.

Poor quality images attached, but it wasn't raining when the door was opened, so the water was already on the inside.

Any ideas???

On further inspection, of the door seal on the body, when peeled back there is water on the inside of the seal - which I wouldn't expect...

There were several issues reported on early MkIII Octavia's with faulty door seals, a lot were replaced under warranty.

The drain hole was either missing, or in the wrong orientation, preventing the water from escaping.

When the door was closed water was being forced into the interior.

Sounds likely to be the issue here in that case.

Off to the dealer in the New Year it is then.

Thanks for the steer. :)
