Help with SE-L spec

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone confirm that auto lights / auto wipers and a auto-dimming rear view mirror are part of the SE-L specification. have visited two dealers and they seem unsure.

Problem exists because in the specification, you can add an option for Auto Light Assist (£200) which includes "auto high beam headlights, auto dim rear view mirror and light and rain assist".  According to other specs, the SE-L already comes with most of that so I read Auto Light Assist as £200 for just auto high beam.  But one salesperson saying it's £200 for the lot, the other salesperson thought it std equipment until I showed him the Auto Light Assist option, now he's unsure. He called Skoda to confirm but person he spoke to was also confused. Said they'd get back to me.

Some of the wording in the brouchures is very confusing.

It's actually the same story with the interior LED package (not that I'm interested in LED interior lights)  "LED interior light package and SKODA welcome logo".  I thought SKODA welcome logo was already included if you had LED exterior lights (which the SE-L has). Neither salesman could verify that one.

Auto Light Assist only implements full beam and dipped beam automatically, the other things mentioned are all standard on the SE-L. The Skoda welcome logo is not standard on the SE-L.

thanks

I have a SE L

So what does Rain Assist do?

Do you have to have the wipers on all the time then when it starts to rain the wipers start working?

There is a rain sensor on the windscreen which detects rain and can speed up or slow down the wiper operation depending on how heavy the rain is.

Link to owners manual in case you don’t have one...

Yes I do have the the Owner’s Manual. It seems to be written to cover every version of car and I find it difficult to navigate and understand to say the least.

I suppose my questions are:

...do I have Rain Assist as standard on my SE L, and if so how do I activate it?

Leave the wiper stalk in the middle (INT) position and choose the sensitivity on the switch (top of stalk) I prefer the '1' (left most) position...…...if you have auto wipers they'll operate whenever rain is detected, if you don't have auto wipers they operate every few seconds regardless.

Thank. Will try it.

My SE has auto dim mirror,  Auto lights,  not High beam (£200 more to have high beam auto)  and auto wipers, Rain assist. You only get logo with int LED Pack

Yet another piece of well thought out wording by VW group. Brochure says that Skoda logo is part of internal LED pack.  So the logo is displayed internally then? :D

Thanks for the link Kenny, don't have my Karoq (yet) but always like an electronic copy of the manual

you'll find you won't just like an electronic copy you'll need it as so much of the paper manual refers you to the pdf version, which on one hand is helpful because you can search for a particular phrase especially if the index doesn't have it, but it's helpful to have a tablet connected to wifi or with the pdf downloaded when you are actually in the car to be able to follow the instructions and understand exactly what you are supposed to do on some of the more technological components.  Our previous cars have had whole manuals just for the sat nav.

Woman of Kent is so right about using the PDF version preferably on a large tablet. The only problem is that you can never be certain that it applies to your particular model and not say an Edition that has most things as standard.

I have had my car 3 months now and am still finding things out, usually with the help of the contributors here on the forum.

Thanks womanofkent and Doogle69 - I know I'll find out soon enough, but just out of interest how do they supply the PDF ?

Via this link..

Then download it to your device so that you can access it offline.

Yes, I've got the pdf (via same link as above) but just wondered how its 'delivered' to customers,  so presume the URL is provided in the paper copy manual and the expectation is to download.

Thanks all

@Karoq-N-Roll Yes thats correct. The vehicle is supplied with a hand book owners manual. This hand book is not exhaustive and therefore refers you to the online version in some instances as it is has more content.

So no Skoda don't print you a pdf and send it via carrier pigeon.;)

There better not be any pigeons anywhere near my nice shiny new car thank you very much!

No I just wondeed if they supplied a copy of it on a USB key or even an old fashioned CD in the back of the manual but of course requiring the download does ensure the latest version is always available.  Simply.... erm.... clever :giggle:

The latest version of the manual is MY19 07/2018 the new manual will be MY20 07/2020 or there about's

Although my wife has owned a Karoq SEL for almost a year was able to impress her today with my knowledge concerning the KESSY system fitted to her car. She knew that by simply grabbing the door handle (driver or front passenger side) whilst having the keys close by would unlock the car. However she had always used the remote to lock the car so when I read on here you just needed to tap the small indent on the door handle to lock the car she explained that was so handy she could put the keys in her handbag from now on. So thanks to however posted that nugget of information on here because it made me look like an electronics expert today in the eyes of SWMBO.

The latest version for MY19 is 2018/11.

For Android mobile phones there is MySkoda application, where is a mobile version of the User Manual.

I have an MY19 car built mid September 2018. It has the "improvements" introduced for the 2019 year. I wondered what the difference between a July and November 2019 manual is and which is relevant to my vehicle?

I paid £200 extra to have the Auto High Beam function on my Edition but I cannot fathom out how it works. I leave the lights rotary switch on Auto but when I leave the main beam on (steering wheel stalk pushed back) the main beam lights don't dip when oncoming headlights approach me so I end up getting flashed by oncoming traffic all the time. What am I doing wrong?

I must admit that I fumbled with this until it worked.  Try pressing the main beam switch again.  There should be a spring loaded position which activates the system. When auto high beam is working, a light symbol comes up in the centre warning area.  This is white on black and stays on even though the lights may have dipped automatically.  (The blue main beam light goes on and off to indicate whether main beam is on or not). The bad news is that even when you get it working, you will still be flashed because the system is slower than you would be in dipping the lights manually. I gave up and switched it off in the end.  If the system is working, it turns off main beam under 60kph.  It will also turn off main beam where there are street lights even if you are travelling at more than 60kph.
