Mk3 Octavia VRS facelift front end fit prefacelift model?

Featured Replies

Hi

i don’t know if this has been covered before, I searched but couldn’t find anything. Does anyone know if the mk3 Octavia facelift front end bolts straight on to the prefacelift model? Or if there is much work involved?

thanks

Aaron

It’s doable in theory but it depends on the trickery used to get the lights working. On the Golf’s you can buy wiring harness adapters to convert the xenon light signals to work with the LED’s, don’t know if they would work the same way on the Octavia.

Should be possible as the chassis is still the same... but there'll be quite a few parts needing replacement.

I'll be the first to ask though... Why would you want to?! :tongueout:

I had a slight off in the snow and all the front panels need replaced and for some reason i’m finding it easier to source a facelift front end than the pre facelift

This is a great reason, I would investigate the headlight situation with Golf adaptors and see how you go! Remember to get the rear lights to match and some glossy trims and radio screen haha

You must be the only pre-FL owner who prefers the look. The headlights just look wrong.

Controversial opinion - I prefer the FL lights in my colour, Quartz Grey. I think the AFS function is better with xenons though and I’m due a bulb upgrade! I’m not going to be facelifting my car though, too fed up of unknowns after the virtual cockpit debacle!

I don't think it's controversial, the designers were given a brief to extend interest in an ageing model and introduce a few improvements without altering/costing too much. I bet Skoda don't do the same headlights on the Superb and Fabia MkIII FL.

Not a huge fan of the new lights.

Reminds me a bit of the Merc headlights back around 2011/2012

The real acid test is whether worldwide sales went down. stayed the same level or actually increased. It was a 4 year old design when the FL came along. I've owned the pre FL and the current car and must admit wasn't sure when I changed but after almost 18 months in now like the 4 headlight look and can say without a shadow of doubt the LED are much better than the 2014 model Xenon's I previously had. Sometimes the function wins over the look IMHO, but each to their own. MK4 will play it safe and be a copy of the larger Superb which I owned a 2016 model and it's headlights were as useless as the wife's previous car Rapid Spaceback. Now she loves the bright LED's on her Karoq SEL.

spelling mistake

I was dead set against the FL when I started looking, but as I moved away from VRS models it was a no brainer, I couldn't pay good money for halogen lights in 2018.

The look has grown on me now, I find the pre-FL in anything other than VRS trim looks quite dated to me. I think though the FL is more colour sensitive, particularly on non VRS/black pack cars. Like Sasha I think it looks good in Quartz grey so that's what I bought.

Back on topic this is a conversion it would be interesting to see happen!
