Vibration at 2200rpm

Featured Replies

Soooo i have a 190tsi 4x4 sportline estate with dsg.. it’s always had a vibration that sounds like a cover vibrating underneath and have noticed it on my father-in-law’s dsg mk2 also. Thought it may be dsg related ‘feature’ but anyone else had it

Yeah I have exactly the same :-)

Vibration at approximately 2000rpm but it was from centre speaker in dash above air vents, manual car btw

I wouldnt say it was normal. Get it to a dealer and demonstrate the noise to a technician so they hear it.

I have one but it's at higher revs and usually in warmer weather...it hasn't been happening recently.

I've applied silent coat to the underside of the centre dash speaker cover and also created a foam gasket around the speaker itself too but that hasn't helped.  Pushing the sensor down on the vent cover seems to cure it but when I remove the sensor itself, the vibration still occurs.  I can only assume it's something around the bulkhead area, possibly under the scuttle.  With the bonnet open I can see quite a lot of pipes and hoses running around that area.  My local dealer is aware and is waiting on a whole new vent assembly to arrive.  Not sure if it's related but when I have the demister on full, I can hear what sounds like paper in a fan from the central, top vent.

IIRC it happens around 4k revs and sounds like an angry bee trapped in the vent.  Very annoying as it is the right frequency to be heard over everything else in the car!

Yeah I have this. Mines been into the dealer 4 times. They have made it slightly better but not cured it.

Theyve done a couple of things. First was rerouting some air con pipes in the cabin. Then replace an actuator valve bracket and then the valve itself. Last visit they started refixing air con pipes that run through the bulkhead.

Annoying noise really ally but I don’t think it’s ever gonna get entirely sorted.

I've only noticed it once. I was towing the caravan over the A66 and I sat at just over 2000 revs for a stretch. I'd seen a thread on here so just dismissed it as something buzzing in the engine bay. Can't say I've noticed it since.
