Bit of a bizarre question

Featured Replies

A pay and display ticket has got stuck over my vin number on the windscreen I’ve tried slipping a piece of card down there to shift it but it’s stuck firm

any idea on how to move it?

if I didn’t, is it against any law not to be displaying windscreen vin?

Oooh good idea! :-)

i need to take a pin anyway to the screen washers who’re currently determined to wash the roof lol

Something sticky like a "Post-it" note? Although I like the Hoover idea too.

Pliers?

Zip tie with double sided tape on it .... wedge it in and see what comes out !

I was always under the impression the VIN number was displayed to deter theives. It's easy for thief to change number plates but not easy to change VIN. VIN is there for people like police to easily identify car. Not sure it's illegal to cover it but would certainly raise suspicion if it was.

Well I tried everything;

a sewing needle and thread - too short

a zip tie and tape - didn’t go down as more determined to stick to windscreen

a zip tie with a dab of pritt stick - wouldn’t attach

a slightly bent zip tie with pritt-stick - moved it slightly! (Yay)

a hoover - nothing

Window cleaner and zip tie again  - nothing

what worked in in the end?

a screwdriver and more window cleaner to soften - the offending pay and display ticket was folded so no chance of coming out, so I shoved it with screwdriver over into far corner beyond the vin

i have a vin on my windscreen again! Yay!

Mans seeing as the ticket was dated last October, it’s been there a while lol

That's what the clear plastic strip on the drivers side of the windscreen is for. To hold parking tickets in place.

I used the parking ticket holder recently, put the ticket in and a gust of wind blew it out and down inbetween the dashboard and windscreen. Had to buy another ticket.

Mines fairly useless but the one on my Oct 2 was very good

Had this exact situation yesterday, and knew exactly what to use - a long (twist-type) cocktail spoon.

This has become so frequent I keep the cocktail spoon in the car. At least that's the story I keep telling police when they ask why I have a full spirit & mixer set on the parcel shelf, and I'm sticking to it! ;)
