Thinking about rejoining the fold.....

Featured Replies

So the PCP on my Focus ST is nearing the end of its term (time flies, eh?) and, seeing as Ford haven't got around to releasing the "new" Focus ST model, it looks like I will be looking elsewhere for my next motor.

I've priced up the following and would appreciate any thoughts:

VRS 4x4 DSG diesel hatchback with 9 options

Space saver spare wheel
Keyless entry and keyless start
Rear parking camera
Front and rear parking sensors
3 spoke heated sports leather multifunction steering wheel
Virtual Cockpit - 10.25" digital display
Electrically adjustable heated folding and auto dimming door mirrors
19" Xtreme silver alloy wheels with anti theft wheel bolts
Winter pack

Comes in at just under £27k on Carwow and includes £2,500 dealer contribution if you take VW's finance.

Any  comments?

Best useful option in winter auto dimming are the  door mirrors. If you have a reversing camera I really wouldn't bother with the reverse park sensors or the fronts.  I rarely use the front ones. I suppose if there was a very low wall or high kerb in front it could stop you having a ding. Instead of sensors, add £200-ish and buy the Canton. Despite the hi-if purists reservations, I think it helps with the sound, particularly better with files from iTunes/Spotify. You'll Get the Skoda and Ford will announce the ST

Not much of a boot on the Ford though.

Depends on if you have kids and wife and need a load lugger.

DCC is a game changer for comfort if doing long distances or family comfort. Be forewarned though, becomes very expensive to lower the car in the future

I'd be looking at Canton and DCC as must haves.

Thanks for that, hadn't seen it before.

Maybe the new ST is closer to release than I thought.....although having watched that video, I'm underwhelmed.

I think I'm going to hold off for now; one of the Carwow dealers said the price quoted isn't protected and in the event of a no-deal Brexit then any increase in import taxes will be passed onto the consumer.

Not a good time to be in the market for a new car, it seems!

Oh most definitely, I've noticed a marked change in handling and comfort even in "Normal" mode of DCC, I'd also recommend ACC if you regularly do longer runs and it's even more useful when you encounter the little black ASCs like the one's littered around Nottingham or SPECs on motorways etc for keeping at the required speed for prolonged periods of time.

I still don't recommend the Virtual Cockpit (VC), (at least not until they give it some useful updates), you'd be just as well informed with a conventional dashboard with a colour maxidot.

On the other hand I would absolutely recommend the VC, I dont like looking at standard dials in other cars now Im used to it. Another vote for DCC especially if the roads are ruined round your way like they are up here!
