Not only similar to the Passat but also....

Featured Replies

The German Auto Unions won't like that, they are already complaining about Skoda stealing their jobs (engines, gearboxes etc)

Expect trouble ahead in the VAG world.

The pitch is that they will be focusing on (PH)EVs in Germany as technology of the future.

Wonder whether there’ll still be a Passat in 2023. Can well see it being EV’d or SUV’d out of existence unless it morphs into something different. Ditto the Superb.

Should be interesting.

Both vehicles very similar, rolling out the same factory built by the same poor workforce.

Then VAG will charge the premium for the Passat?

From a consumers point of view at least no one buys a Passat so little to worry about!

Isn't JLR doing something similar by winding down some production in the UK and moving it to Eastern Europe?

UK sales of the recently revised XE (starts at nearly £34,000) have halved since it was launched in 2015. Too much competition for it from BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Volvo in the premium sector these days.:worried:

The XE suffers from a bland interior and more importantly poor rear interior room. So-so engine line up doesn't help either. It might have the best driving dynamics (if we believe the reviews) but that counts for nothing for most people.

Jaguar just can’t do compact cars. The X-Type was all too obviously a Mondeo in drag, the XE looks great, drives well, but is badly packaged and doesn’t hit the quality standard. VW Group would call that a Seat ;)

My brother had the X-Type with the 2.2 diesel engine and was gutted when I informed him it was "no more than a Mondeo in a fancy suit".

I upset my brother by telling him its a Mondeo with a Transit engine
Not happy when I showed him all the FoMOCo stamps on some of the plastics

That's really cruel but funny. Wish I had thought of that.

No problems like that here in skodaland. Besides the plastic engine cover, I see parts stamped with VW AG. Yet to find an Audi stamped part... Will keep looking... Lol

There are quite a few A*(@ marks on the hoses around the top of the 2.0 TSi 220.

Front brake calipers on Superb Mk11 have the VW and four rings sign on them
Noticed tonight when changing my C.V joint

The rear discs have 'made in China' stamped on them on the mk 3.

That is good stuff. Just like the iPhone I used to have the the phone I am typing this in right now.

Is my car made in China because it's so cheap compared to an Audi?

No your car was made in Eastern Europe.

Point is apart from the generic and shared engines and transmissions other components are built to a very low price.

Hence a lot of the threads on here regarding wafer thin paint, rotten rear brake discs within a short service life, leather quick to wear off the seats.

Don't mistake my tone for being anti skoda. It's a fine car for transporting real sized people and luggage and it does this job with minimal fuss.

But they are cheap for a reason and that reason lies in that not all of the skoda superb will be adorned with AUDI or even VW markings.

I doubt the Kia Ceed owners rave that their beloved car shares the same components as the Hyundai i30.

Do some drivers idolise the AUDI so much?

Go to Octavia MK3 section under 245 Owners Club page 14 28th August 2018 and take a ganderB)

Good colour.

Are those AUDI wheels.....???

Plenty go on about the Manufacturers Warranty of their cars built in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Maybe Skoda / VW could do the same 5 or 7 years as Hyundai & KIA can with these Central European products.

RS6 Replica's but good quality, £600 for 4, more for the Michelin PS4S tyres.

It's a pity the 3 spoke alloys from the 90s are not so prevalent now.
