Default driving mode change on MY19 [NOT solved]

Featured Replies

Could anyone who owns Skoda Kodiaq (ideally RS) that remembers driving mode (MY19 pre August) after ingnition off/on cycle post logs from VCDS here so I could compare each value with mine and see what is the difference?

I'm really annoyed this.  How can it be a safety issue?  If I set off driving and then remember that I need to change the drive mode, my attention is distracted from the road while I'm changing it.  N

  • No doubt this will be a simple adaptation change... once someone finds out exactly where it is.

  • Ok! So a few posts back I had written that I thought I had found the solution by browsing the user manual. At the time I was doing so using the electronic version of the manual from MySkoda app. But w

The only thing which is not remembered is in which Driving mode the driver left the car in before turning off

some tricks are found for Kodiaq, must be same for Superb

additionally to memory of last used mode, it also enable mix some settings,

like configure steering in sport for Eco mode

or set accelerator to sport and leave DSG in D mode

personally not tested, my Superb is too old

Correct, it's now possible to tweak certain parameters in the dataset for cars with a 3Q0...Q or above CAN gateway including the Superb, Octavia and Kodiaq.

The hardest part is getting the original dataset for your vehicle. Over time, there will probably be a selection but I think choices are limited atm.

My gateway was updated from L to Q and I was given an appropriate dataset. I've since tweaked it so the vRS mode button only lights in sport. Preventing it reverting to normal is an easy enough change too 👍

I've no idea about this ODIS system mentioned, i take it it's not something you can tweak with VCDS/OBDEleven?

If so does it mean it;s only possible via the dealer network?

Correct, VCDS and OBDeleven can't apply datasets.

ODIS is a dealer level software and normally used with a VAS5054a or VAS6154 dongle. I doubt a dealer would help as you'd need to use ODIS to download the correct dataset from Skoda, find it on their computer, modify it, then apply it using ODIS...

VCP can also upload datasets assuming you can find one that's suitable for your car.

I have a VAS5054a but I don't have online access to Skoda so I can't download the original datasets.

I did as it said. The modes are saved on the Columbus screen, but the DSG is still reset to Drive.

no matter what you change or edit with driving modes, when you move your gear selector from P to D that is exactly what you will get. E is just a variation of D when in eco mode. if you want S before going through D that just will never happen. Think of it like S is the next step on and you cant get to it without going through D

I do hope it changes in the future. I like the way my 17 build just remembers driving mode, I swap between them depending on mood and rarely use Normal. a good alternative would be to make Normal customisable or make Individual the default option. If you've gone to the effort of changing settings you probably know what you're doing with it and aren’t instantly going to mow down a bunch of school children because you drove 20 yds before realising you were in sport, or rear ended a car because you coasted briefly in E. We really arent allowed to think for ourselves anymore in the car world are we

I personally don’t care about the DSG being in D. My Golf R does that as well. For me It’s all the rest of the driving mode settings that I want to stay in my preferred mode. I want my steering sharper, my cornering lights faster, my chassis control in sport, etc.

yep agree, theres just too many people that seem to get confused between driving mode and gearbox mode

To be honest, it's been such a long time living with this limitation that by now it's become second nature to just tap the Mode button twice every time I start the car up, car and DSG are then both set to Sport which is my preferred setup even for daily driving (especially after the DSG remap) and off I go...
