can anyone reccommend a cctv system

Featured Replies

I am looking for a cctv system with recorded video to fit, basically, a one acre field with 3 large sheds........and be able to cover night time as well.

only after 3 or 4 cameras to cover the entrance and the sheds/area around the sheds, we really want them to be hidden .....but the recorder/base unit will have to be put in a bolted down cabinet (we will be installing it ourselves)

so ..

3 to 4 cameras (maybe wireless and IR)

base unit and long record vcr.

but what works well for around

I have a friend who works for ADT, I'll have a word with him and let you know but I think your budget may be a bit tight considering what you want it to do.

We supply and install Bosch CCTV. A little Eazeo system would be your best bet but for the basic four camera starter kit with a VCR would be £926 + Vat TRADE. If you require a camera to be installed externally you would expect to pay £81 + Vat TRADE per external housing.

So a lot more than your current budget, you may find some equipment with long japenese names you've never heard of but quality could be questionable.

At that sort of money you'd have to aim for a 2nd hand system to be honest with a sequencer and time lapse vcr. The area would have to be well lit at night or you would need decent IR lighting too which is pricey. Lots of shops etc are going digital with their cctv so you can pick up this stuff pretty cheap at auctions etc.

You could get a few cams and a capture card off ebay and get reasonable results too. The trouble is that the software with the cheap cards is very unstable in my experience. Also the cheap wireless cams are pretty crap and the IR leds built into the cheap wired cams are no good at illuminating beyond a couple of metres away.

Yes. These work every time .....

Much cheaper. :D

Go down your local electrical wholesaler (City Electrical, Newey & Ayre, Edmundson Electrical, etc etc) they will be able to price you up the components you need, the most expensive part being the VCR. remember that for outside cameras, you will need the standard camera + a weatherproof housing.

Or you could just go mad on E-bay, one bloke is selling colour weatherproof infra red cameras with built in infra red lighting for

I used y3k.com for a DVR system I put together myself but they do 4 camera kits.

I cannot fault their helpfulness and service (they replied to an email query within an hour, and they upgraded a camera FOC as the one I ordered was out of stock.)

The website is however very very slow at certain times of day.

A DVR system is great because you can set it to record on motion detect (based on image changes not a PIR) and saves wading through hours of tape/disc!

If you need to get evidence quality faces and vehicle regs. you'll probably need a very expensive setup!

Try Maplin, we stock a big range of CCTV. As above, most expensive bit will be the recording device (DVR, video etc)

Have a look at the website (Maplin Electronics ™ Website- 500GB Seagate FreeAgent Hard Drive) or pop into your local store, or PM me :)

I agree. Maplin does have a system just within your budget: Maplin > DVR Kits and specifically: Maplin > DVR4-1000 Security Kit 4 Camera CCTV Recording Kit In addition you'll also need a monitor to view the video. HTH

Fellas this is two year old thread resurectted by a spammer.
