Dashboard out, asking for trouble?

loads of marques pipe fake exhaust noise through the speakers into the cabin. BTW the British motor industry died about 30 years ago.

Not just in the cabin.  Some of the performance Audi's have external speakers at the backend too, to synthesise an exhaust note.  My mate bought module from Germany which allowed him to change the exhaust note of his A6 3.0 BiTDI.  It actually sounded pretty good but some of the exhausts notes on offer were a tad OTT.

When I worked at an automotive consultancy my company car had a prototype system fitted that allowed you to choose what engine sound played through the car speakers (depending on throttle position and engine speed) - around town most people chose to hear a V8 but on the open road most people chose an air-cooled flat 6.

Car enthusiasts just like the sound of a 6 or 8 cylinder engine more than an inline 4 B)

Sorry, I lie, it was the Clio... It is in a few others as well :D

Dashboard out, asking for trouble?

I would say yes to the above question.

No specific experience of this problem but enough experience of Skoda dealers to know that this would be unlikely to end well.

Sorry to hear about your dash rattle, I never liked the sound generator, they should be making them quieter not louder, I had a Mitsubishi PHEV and the jump to a vRS TDI was literally a wake up call - great economy / power but very noisy.

in a 2.0 TSI Kodiaq at the moment so peace and tranquility has been restored (a bit noisier than I would of thought at low speed, but much much better when you get going)

Anyhow I’ll go back to my section now, but I think the Octy forum is a bit more active and always a good read.

I can't recall him fitting any hardware underneath the car so perhaps his A6 had that already.  He had bought a module which he fitted into the boot cubby and the sounds were changed via the cruise control stalk.  It looked not too different from a tuning box.  It was a good few hundred euros IIRC.

All 313 bhp diesels have the active sound units fitted to drown out the exhaust noise, cancelling the noise by piping in the opposite sound wave so they can run a much smaller back box.  HIs audi had the eberspachers fitted,  i didnt have the space due to changing to the dual back box. it fits perfect for me. I have a video let me see if i can find it sorry for going off topic but its an option if you want realistic controllable sound, expensive yes but the best mods ive done. ill be moving it to the next skoda when i change up as well , this was a cr@p video at night sorry.
