Water in connectors seems traditional inside mk1 octy doors, no?

Yeah, had it on my drivers door module connector, the main power pin had corroded off the module and the rear door also suffer in the "B" pillar connectors

Thanks guys for your input- you have all been really great helping me get to the bottom of this.

Just a quick recap- so my battery drain problems were indeed traced back to the control module inside the drivers door (no surprises there i guess).  I have had niggles with the windows and CL since I bought the car ... when I first got it there was indeed an egg cup worth of water in the connector so cleaned it up and all seemed ok at the time.

I went back into the door panel today and found that although it seems dry, unplugging it dropped the battery drain to a very reasonable 15.2 mA.

I have pulled it out and found the electonics inside to be kinda rotten and there was a ben't pin and a missing one. I put everything back together without it - I can still use all the windows but the drivers one and I can lock the car manually so it's fine as a temporary measure.

My second question is "Is putting in a new one a simple plug'n'play situation or does a new part have to be computer coded to work with the car"?

Good progress fella.  I'm pretty sure it'll be plug and play, but a mk1 Octy owner will be along shortly to confirm, I'm sure.

No coding required, just ensure it is the exact same part number as I bought one that was "suitable" according to the seller, turned out not to suitable, so just make sure on the part numbers
