And I thought cleaning the car today was going to be the bad part of the day! :wall:

Oft, that’s a belter that.

Oh no!  I feel your pain.

You will get it sorted.  Good luck.

Hope you shouted at her.

In fairness it was me that did it, 21 years of driving ultra carefully never to ding a wheel and all came to a belter today.

What happened?

Pure stupidity! Picked up the phone while going out of a car park space, taking a hard left out and I cought a right angled curbing on the other side. Only plus side was no damage to paint on the car.

Will ring skoda Monday to get a new alloy as I don't think superskoda sell a single wheel anymore.  Hoping I can get the tyre supplier for work to do me a good deal on two tyres for the front of the car as they was close to replacing anyway.

Could happen to anyone - at least your front tyres were on the way out.  Once you have a new wheel on and two new tyres, you’ll be happy camper again.

If it makes you feel any better, I had four curbed alloys for months after Mrs Dunc used my vRS regularly to take the kids to school - with huge 7” curbs outside to be fair. Finally got her a bigger car (Golf) so got ‘my’ vRS back.

I just had all four refurbed (went powder coat all over as a change) and four new tyres at the same time. Finally happy again!

Nevermind the wheel , look what you have done to your tire!

A good reason not to have P-Zeros as they their rim protection is non existant.

Which is exactly why I have GY Assy 3s with the FP.

Rim protection did not help here.

But hands free might be an idea. If only to stop get those penalty points and fines.

Yep, use that odd thing that takes a cup holder position, Arkon mount or one of the other expensive one's that are permanently fixed to the car (can't remember the name of the manufacturer) via the A-pillar or sliding it into the dashboard.

Still you can consider it as a non endorsable fine, that didn't give you points on your licence.

Give him a break!

Talk about kicking a man when he’s down!!

Haha thanks!

Was in a private car park so nothing illegal on my part

If it's any help I also put a very small ding in one of mine yesterday, a little careless, and annoyed though! As mine was so small I managed to 'wet and dry ' it and then coat it will a lacquer. It is annoying though, especially when the damage is worse than a small, scratch.  Good luck.

I'm off sick and will be for about 14 weeks and have to put up with SWMBO whilst I am recovering from an operation (2 out of a possible 4), so I know what punishment is.

Well I'll be on crutches after a second hip replacement operation (both knee replacements later on) and she will still be pestering me to help with the shopping and household stuff.

And you're moaning about a wheel, I'm losing about £4-4.5k in wages! :crying:

Incidents while driving happen to us all at some stage.  Back to sleep:sleepy:

Last year I came back to the car and found that someone hit it and scooted and left me with a £1220 bill and a blot on my clean insurance record that'll be with me for the next 3-5 years.

you need a blackvue, and if you have wifi it will upload any incidents to the cloud automatically.

I posted a thread a week or so back - I've managed to curb one of mine, but nowhere near as bad as that.

Going rate for 19" Extreme wheels is around £100+vat for the refurb, no matter the damage - you can't smart repair Diamond Cut, so the whole wheel has to go into a lathe anyway.

Best price I could get on a new wheel was around £250 for something genuine.

In the end I've just left mine as the scrape is only about 1-2" long and not very noticeable. I'll keep an eye on it, soon as it starts to "bubble" or similar I'll get it sorted.

Sadly, there are a few bar stewards driving around out there:@
