Pop quiz..

I have found this pipe or what looks like it used to be a pipe. It’s oily and degraded. 

I have no idea where it is meant to go or what it does.

Its just below the dipstic on the back rear left hand side of the engine. 

The red arrow is where it roughly is. 

 

Does anyone know the answer!!?

Been a very long time since I had a 1.6 AEE engine but I'm sure that's the crankcase breather, should have a pipe on it going up then into the air intake.
